Critic Reviews for Preacher's Kid
Too many of the performances are too broad with actors hitting the jokes and the slang as if they're auditioning for a revival of Good Times or 227.
I find the plot developments to be pretty predictable, and the resolutions tend to be a little too easy.
I wish the film had hit a little harder or had a few unpredictable plot elements, but as far as Christian movies aiming to make mainstream headway are concerned, this is certainly one of the better ones I've seen.
Crowd-pleasing, heartfelt and inspirational. It's a wonderful, uplifting, and life-affirming movie.
Stan Foster's film confirms the unique, undeniable power this genre can achieve on both stage and film.
Audience Reviews for Preacher's Kid
Saw it and enjoyed it...even though I though it would be another version of "Momma I Wanna Sing"...in a sense it was but from a father looking out for the best interest for his daughter. Showing that through her religious beliefs and his strong ties to the church, the path you choose may not be right
It was too predictable... but if you like movies with a positive/spiritual message, it's probably worth watching. On another note, I really enjoyed Tyler Perry's: A Family That Prays". It was very interesting and all the character's were easy to like and follow. In this movie however, I stopped caring about the individuals involved and I couldn't stick with it. I stopped it half way through.
it kind of felt tyler perry wanna be- ish. but i still kinda liked it.
i hated some of the plot though. and some of the voices weren't as great as i thought they should be. i thought that the when the boy was waiting for the main character to come back, he should have been a little angrier. he just felt like a pushover. :/
