Narratively, it's a mess. There's a through-line Darwinism vs. creationism thing going on that ping-pongs big religious and philosophical ideas, but whiffs the return.
You liked "The Vow."

He gave The Vow a 2.5/4, which is rotten. So he actually didn't like it that much. He did however give The Avengers and The Hunger Games a 2.5/4 as well, so I guess this guy knows nothing :P

Oh damn I meant that he liked "The Lucky One," that other Nicholas Sparks adaptation (all of them just meld into one amorphous blob of nonsense for me--hard to distinguish one from another). But he gave "The Lucky One" a rating of 2.5/4 as well, and for some reason it appears as "fresh." Weird. Weirder still, as you point out, is that a "top critic" gives the same rating to The Vow as he does to The Avengers. Anyway, I'm seeing Prometheus tonight, not in the least deterred from some of the negative critic reviews.

Its the critic that determines if its rotten or fresh, regardless of score.

Um the answers you seek we still don't have today. Trying to answer them in a film in this style would be not only wrong but just down-right stupid. Scott's a prophet yes yes I know but he doesn't know everything. Give him a break.

Scotts a prophet?...OH wow! Well, This so called prophet couldn't even explain his creation right. Xenomorphs created by HUMANS? HUMANS!! That contradicts everything the Comics, novelization, sequels created. It would of made more sense having the snakes evolve into the xenomorph race everyone calls ALIENS. The ironic thing is Xenomorphs are an unintelligent, and it they are the offsprings of humans/CREATORS (Gods or whatever) than their characteristics should of shown some sort of intelligence...this movie makes me so mad! And most of the viewers are ignorant...if they knew anything...they would know that XENOMORPHS....hense the name MORPHS EVOLVE....their a race that has been around since PREDATORS...hense the AVP Wars. Predator 2, and in the comics dated to WWII and cold war show predator with Alien skull trophies. And in Prometheus....the Alien were created 2092?! FTW!!! This movie is a while cluster fuck!

Yes true and maybe the fact that those answers can't come in a piece of fiction. No one with a rational mind thinks aliens that ugly made us; in fact I'd go as far as to say; that's how the first androids should have looked not our authors. Star trek next gen tried to answer this same question at the end of the series; so did space above and beyond; both with tragic awful flaws. I think because it's obvious the bread didn't make itself deep in our subconscious, that we are unwilling to accept the truth of the creator. [maybe because of obedience issues] For this reason we're also unable to come up with a simple fun story/ scenario that questions dogma[statue to life vs dna strand formation vs dna strand self-formation] without insulting our intelligence. If an alien made our dna; who made dna first; who made the dna the dna was based on? if dna made itself why did it stop; why no dino men or bird/octopus people? Speaking of which, if octo alien didn't nest in space jockeys chest first; would the aliens have looked that way? Where were the eggs in the beautiful lazer setting from the first film. Would the xenomorphs and the octo/snake xeno's been friends or predator vs prey? In all that talk where are the Predators in all this? Are they friends of the Engineers or were these things developed to wipe them out also? All questions I'm sure Ridley and writer could care less about; but that's the universe that has been created in all these authors storylines to date. I'd like to see maybe a nice separate space tour tv series; to iron out these hard to look past/but-slight story conflicts; but how expensive would that be!!! O_o! All that being said I would LOVE to see a theronless sequel!
