Brilliant. Epic. Haunting. Grotesque. Great.
You've lost your mind Roeper - Ridley Scott destroyed every piece of the Alien legacy - as though the 'sequel' to this movie never happened. Nothing makes sense, nothing lines up. The freaked out scientist invites the 'snake' to bite him - hmmm, I'm sure. This movie made zero sense as a standalone, and less as a prequel. Great? who's paying you to say that?

This movie is a flaming dog turd. It has to be one of the worst sci-fi films of all times. Worse, it doesn't make Alien and Aliens better but degrades them to a point where re-watching them now will be ruined by thoughts that this was the "prequel" story that led to them.

Is it a science fiction movie? No science in it. And no fiction. A thriller? No thrilling moments or horror. An adventure? Hmmm... quite a bit. A drama? The scenario was idiotic and seriously silly. The actors were quite terrible. I actually wanted the aliens to eat them all!! A dissapointment? YES... The only credit is that it was aesthetically beautiful with nice shots of the environment and nice special effects

really? come on.

Dear Richard Roeper.. after reading this simple, poor, inaccurate, flawed review, my opinion of your credibility has been forever destroyed. Good day :D

I'm SURPRISED that so many people want to defend this steaming pile of CRAP... It was NOT entertaining in THE LEAST... I've had deeper thoughts pondering the Corn Kernels in my own crap... There is no way that this film mean anything to anyone about... ANYTHING... Lol, I loved Fassbender's David, he did a wonderful job acting, but even that could not salvage the wreckage that is this film... GARBAGE!

Jesus Christ, I could have your job if that's all it takes to post a review.

This movie wasn't "great" here is why. First of all Prometheus was pitched as a sci-fi/horror movie. It succeeded as a sci-fi flick but failed in the horror department. There were some fantastic ideas presented. For example, the mural of the zenomorph/queen alien could have been delved into more. The black liquid was NOT explored enough. They should have shown what would happen to someone before they were killed off after consuming the liquid. The worm alien things should have been more threatening to the crew meaning there should have been scenes with the thing attacking members of the crew.
Secondly there was some horrible writing. How could the two guys with a map get lost in the cave? Why did the guy with glasses think it would be smart to PET the worm/snake thing? Why did the mo-hawk guy crawl back to the ship and why was he all bended and sh*t? Why did they crew not notice that he was all bended BEFORE the door opened? WHY didn't vickers and the main girl run sideways to the falling ship? After the main girl had the surgery why wasn't it addressed by her and why didn't anyone ask what the fu*k happened to her??? WHY???!!!!

Are you kidding! That is not a question. If this is what you think about this film then I can only come to two conclusions - you are a moron and/or(probably and) you were paid to write this.
Find some Integrity or see the movie.

Ironically for me, the film had no atmosphere, either on the surface or underground.
I really don't care if it was better or worse than past or future films. On its own merits it was disappointing.

Brilliant that people in the future can be so ignorant and dumb. The actions of individuals in this movie were retarded. The captain is the only person with half a brain. "hey i wouldnt touch that." Leave it to the guy who doesnt have a PHD to have enough common sense to stay away from alien lifeform.

Err ok I can't speak for Richard, but here's my take on Prometheus
Jul 7 - 11:53 PM
Roeper, for all intensive purposes, you definitely have your head jammed up your ass.
Jul 8 - 05:45 AM
Not that good.

You need to officially turn in your reviewer card for saying that. You and Ebert. This movie was a polished piece of crap.

Great, stunning movie! I have no idea were all this anger comes from. I loved the great acting, the story and the spellbinding visuals. And what I most enjoyed was the space the movie leaves to the imagination, instead of spoon-feeding the audience.
I also liked the review on this silly last Star Trek movie which everybody loved sooooooo much. Poor Gene Roddenberry...
