I Am Legend's Will Smith to Toss His Little Daughter to the Vampires

Summary

If you've seen the trailer for "The Pursuit of Happyness," then you know what Will Smith acting opposite his young son looks like. Oh, and now his daughter's been cast -- as his daughter -- in "I Am Legend." After that he'll be writing a screenplay called "Nepotism: It Rocks." (Just kidding, Will. Philly represent!) errr sounds like they are changing the story. Well we all knew that would happen and that ok but having a kid does bring up warning bells. It is a bleak book at times and "I am Legend shouldn't be your traditional story of family guy saves family. I don't mind a somewhat happy ending but I would rather see something closer to the book and that would mean something more bleak.

Funny, I just read I Am Legend. Its a great short story. ...But this just sounds like crap. Any time Will Smith is in a movie, then the movie is just about Will Smith. A great movie adaptation would take its time, just like the book did.

"Last Man on Earth" with Vincent Price was interesting, and "Omega Man" with Charlton Heston was very entertaining, but it'll be hard to make a satisfying vampire action movie today. They don't know how to make vampires in movies now. They think that throwing blood at the screen makes for a scary time, but if there's no suspense or mood, it all seems pointless.

As long as his daughter appears only during flashbacks as dying of the plague, then fine. My biggest concern here is and has been that I don't the studios have the guts to embrace the moral of "I am Legend" with Will Smith in the role of Neville. In fact if the "leaked screen-play" that came out some months ago is the real thing... this is NOT "I am Legend" in any since whatsoever. At risk of ruining it for people that don't appriciate a good hard moral: The screenplay has a happy ending... "I Am Legend" does not, and that's the point od "I Am Legend"
