Good call Will, that'll revitalize your career.
Apr 4 - 06:02 PM
So because Will did 7 pounds he has to revitalize his career? Tom Cruise rained at the box office for almost 20 years but as soon as he made Valkyrie all of a sudden his career is over? Sorry Big, but the reality is we hold these guys at such a high standard that when they have one or two missteps we say their career is over. These two guys can make 5 to 6 bombs in a row and they will still be ok from what they have done already.
Apr 4 - 09:18 PM
Umm....Seeing as Will is probably one of the few reliable Box office stars left, and M night hasn't produced anything worth while in (give or take) 10 years...i THINK bigbro may have been going for sarcasm
Apr 5 - 03:22 AM
I dont *THINK* so Rizz. But Big and I are cool and we both hate the original Superman theme.
Apr 5 - 03:56 AM
Actually since before I Am Legend I can't remember Will being in a single movie I've really enjoyed or that was hugely successful at the BO. Which as you say is a definate surprise for someone so historically potent at the BO. I'm certainly not declaring his career dead by any means, but I think it is fair to say he's at least in a career lull and starring in a movie with M. Night Shamaylan probably isn't going to help it. One of the things I've loathed about Shamaylan even before his movie's completely went to crap was his ability to direct great emotional actors (Willis, Gibson, etc) and make them give very one note emotionless performances. I hope that's not what we're going to get from Will and lil' Will.
Apr 5 - 04:26 AM
And Will Smith was going to be in Oldboy
Apr 5 - 07:04 AM
Hancock made 620mill which is higher than I am Legend and though the 2nd half of the movie was mediocre the 1st half was amazing. Hancock came after I am Legend.
Apr 5 - 07:58 AM
Didn't think Hancock made that much money, I stand corrected, but I still haven't seen anyone who thinks partnering up and sacrificing his son to Mola Shamayram is a good idea. KALI MAAAA!!! KALI MAAA!!!"
Apr 5 - 06:29 PM
No career lull for Will Big, Like Odd E already clarified, Hancock was highly successful which reinforces my point. Only 7 pounds sucked and after 7 pounds is Men In Black 3 which we know will be huge. Like i said, when people whom we hold to a high standard have 1 or 2 missteps we are quick to say his or her careeris:: fill in the blank __________
Apr 6 - 02:40 AM
See I thought 7 Pounds, The Secret Life of Bee's and I Am Legend all sucked to varying degree's which is 3 out of his last 4 major films. Think he's got an indie in there somewhere that I haven't seen yet and while now that I know Hancock was much more successful than I thought and Legend was at least commercially successful I think they're more successful in latter Pirates/Matrix/Spiderman 3 way i.e. they're trading on past glory. A ton of people saw them because Will Smith was in them, not because they were particularly good and as you stated people expect Will Smith films to all be good because he's set a high standard. I just don't want him to slide into the rut that's currently got Robert DeNiro and Al Pacino which I don't think doing a Shamaylan film isa step in the direction of avoiding.
Apr 6 - 05:26 AM
Next project?! Are you kidding me?
Apr 4 - 06:03 PM
Curse you Bigbrother. Beating me by one minute :)
Apr 4 - 06:05 PM
Looks like we got an Oscar winner here folks.
Apr 4 - 06:11 PM
Well I'm one of those people who still believes M Night will make a comeback. Though he makes it really hard to keep hope.
Apr 4 - 06:17 PM
Yeah, I'll admit to being an MNS apologist in the past, but even I'M losing interest. And the Smith boys are not what was going to get me back on the team. Oh well, if this has anything to do with the Oldboy remake not being made at least some good will come of this. Signed, "Half-full guy"
Apr 5 - 11:52 AM
Read the plot --- feels like I've seen this movie before.
Apr 4 - 06:31 PM
I think M. Night has one more great movie in him, I've seen a few directors go thorough slumps, he has a good style, his scripts just need to be develpoed better. However I'm not a fan of Jaden SMith as an actor. Yes he was very good in Pursuit, but he annoyed the hell outta me playing the same character, bratty kid who acts all pissy to his mother, in Day and Karate Kid. He got on my nerves too much, but I'll bet since he'll be with his dad he'll seem all sweet again, unless a mother character is on the screen with him. Will Smith thinks he's all that, but his last two films, especially Seven Pounds, were atrocious.
Apr 4 - 08:30 PM
It is possible for Shyamalan to put out another solid flick, but I do not see it happening. The guy is so full of himself and refuses to acknowledge the fact that he has made some of the most atrocious big studio films of the last decade. The guy needs to be humbled.
Apr 5 - 06:27 AM
dethburger hates Flixster
you said HAPPENING!!!
Apr 5 - 05:27 PM
Does that mean he has to drink a shot? What are the other things we have to look for in this drinking game?

Rut Row Raggy...
Apr 4 - 08:36 PM
I watch the special features of The Happening. M is so full of himself. When he is being interviewed he has the camera film him from the profile in black and white or film only his torso while his hands wave around with ambient music playing in the background. Its like dude, your movie sucked. Good thing I borrowed it from someone instead of buying it.
Apr 5 - 03:53 AM
How many projects is Will Smith attached to? I know it is at least fifteen or something. Surely some of those have more promise than an M. Night Shyamalan movie.
Apr 5 - 06:25 AM
M Night Shyamalan
This movie is definitely HAPPENING. Forget Close Encounters. Nevermind 2001. Screw even the awesomeness of SIGNS. This is going to be the sci-fi film to end all sci-fi films, you don't have to have a SIXTH SENSE to know that. Plus, I've got the Fresh Prince himself to star, along with Jaden, the best child actor to grace the screen since Jodie Foster in Taxi Driver. It's going to be DEVILishly clever, and wait to you get a load of the final...TWIST!And you all thought I was done! Hell no, I'm UNBREAKABLE. An entire VILLAGE couldn't take me down. AIRBENDER ain't got nothin' on me!
Apr 5 - 06:51 AM
Yes!!! YESSS!!! Dear God yesss!!!!
Apr 5 - 06:55 AM
Your not M Night you are just a troll! Get off this site jackass!!!!
Apr 5 - 07:40 AM
I love all of this guy's post so leave him alone. Troll or not this guy is cool.
Apr 5 - 08:00 AM
I haven't seen him around in a while. This post was funny. Where's that Bieber jackass that was around a few months ago?? Now THAT guy was annoying.
Apr 5 - 09:15 AM
You forgot to add a 'Lady in the Water' tie in. But good stuff.
Apr 5 - 04:05 PM
Mayhaps he prefers to keep his sex life secret?
Apr 6 - 01:14 AM
Haven't seen you around for awhile...what a TWIST!
Apr 5 - 05:29 PM
It'd really be a twist if it does financially better than Close Encounters!
Apr 8 - 12:22 PM
How does this guy still get jobs? I want his agent!
Apr 5 - 08:48 AM
People still want to work with him?
