Bond 22 No More: New 007 Movie Gets a Title
Summary
It's going to take a little getting used to, what with months of referring to it simply as Bond 22 and all, but the next 007 caper has an official title. Back to Article

on Jan 26 2008 04:27 PM I found Casino Royale extremely close to the Connery style of Bond movies. A lot of it reminded me of Dr. No. In fact, if you were to watch Dr. No you would see that there's some "lifetime", as you call it, romance between Ursula and Sean. Come on, "Underneath the mango tree..." is macho? What the hell is wrong with giving Bond a bit of depth? Also, Bond actually gets married in On Her Majesty's Secret Service. So Casino Royale is the one that's closer to classic Bond. The more recent ones are the perversions. (Reply to this) |
![]() on Jan 26 2008 06:27 PM no Connery and Ursula under the mango tree was Bond. I recall one of them had a blade too and it is all how you shoot it M didn't give bond little pysco-babble talks in the originals and many a lass has fallen by the way side in a bond movie heart wrenching yes but worth no more than a glance or quick moment and by the end of the flick there was someone eles. But wait ...to compare Dr No to this.. I will stop now im getting of this bus ..bus driver....and im not advocating fornication neither maybe they just rolled around a bit (Reply to this) |

![]() on Jan 26 2008 08:29 PM hey, Casino Royale bought them so much needed respect and life in a series that was just about dead, so the naming of the title really isn't a big deal either way for me. anything is better than Bonds 22, now Bonds 23 would be cool and for the villian they could have jim carrey still screaming about how the hell that number movie convinced him in staring in that film;) (Reply to this) |

on Jan 27 2008 01:42 PM You'd have thought people would have learned their lesson after the way they treated Daniel Craig before anyone had even seen his performance. Now they're making the same mistake - judging a film by its title before anyone's even watched it. Anyway, some of the lyrics to the new song have just been released - although they haven't found a singer yet. The end of the chorus goes like this: "It doesn't matter if you're Paul, Dave, Bill or Horace, When she leaves you there's no quantum of solace No quantum of solace, no , no , no Quantum of solace" Looks like it's going to be another male singer again, I've worked that much out. on Jan 27 2008 05:26 PM This whole "double the action" thing has me worried. Was that an actual statement by the studio? Or was that something someone else made up? I thought the chase in the beginning of Casion Royale was cool, though it did seem rather over the top in comparison to the rest of the movie. If this turns into a Transporter clone I'll be very upset. Though the Aston WOULD be a better choice than a BMW. (Reply to this) |

on Jan 28 2008 10:30 AM Though it seems like a strange title, it gives me more good hope for the movie knowing they seems to want to use the short story titles as the titles for the upcoming movies (Reply to this) |

![]() on Jan 29 2008 06:34 PM The plot sounds like it could be really generic. Is it just me, or does every action hero/spy end up going to some bleak European country followed by a trip to Italy? (Reply to this) |

on Jan 30 2008 02:38 PM In reply to this comment (#1526836) In the book Casino Royale, Bond was not the suave superspy we've seen in the past movies. He was much closer to the way Craig portrayed him in the movie, and he grows into the confidence and poise throughout the books. It's called a character arc, and if the new producers want to take several movies to play that out, that's fine with me. And, sorry, but your opinion pretty much lost any merit when you called Dame Judy a harpy. She was one of the really good things about the movie. (Reply to this) |
![]() on Jan 30 2008 10:43 PM They could call it "James Bond vs. The Lettuce Monsters" and it would have my money as long as Daniel Craig reprised his role and the movie followed along the same lines as CR. The last movie showed me that the producers wanted to get back on the right track so I could care less about the title. Hell, the last movie had "Casino Royale" in the title and you didn't see the damn Casino for like a full hour. Sorry...it has my money. And NylonLisa, "M" is not a "harpy". the character of "M" has always been a cold-blooded bastard (Bernard Lee) or cold-blooded ***** (Judi Dench). That's the way it is. Secondly, Dench had a total screen-time in the movie of like 12-15 minutes which, in a movie that ran about 2 1/2 hours, is really quite small. Of course, your credibility flew out the window the moment you proclaimed CR to be a terrible movie, so arguing with you about this is probably fruitless. I mean, the rest of your post is full of gigantic contradictions. You describe Bond as being tough and confident...and he is. Then you say the movie needed to be more like the early Connery movies...and it was. It didn't have the whole cheesy gadget/Playboy Bunny/punster crap like all the other movies. I mean...did you even SEE the movie or are you just going off what your friends told you? (Reply to this) |

on Feb 01 2008 08:42 AM It's not the name or action that makes a great Bond movie. It is the intrigue and I'm afraid that's been lacking since Sean Connery retired his "James, James Bond." The newest Bond is closer to Connery in looks and build, but lacks the debonair of Connery. (Reply to this) |
![]() on Feb 01 2008 07:22 PM Mmm, I can't wait for this, Casino Royale was excellent but I think this film deserves more action, there's not the whole Vesper thing to use. It'll be fun to see Bond take out his frustration on some baddies, old school style. (Reply to this) |
