Movie Info

This actioner is set in a remote, heavily forested area in Northern California where marijuana growers raise their illegal crops and run whole communities with their terrorist tactics and wealth. The tale centers on the efforts of a fearless New York cop to free one such community from the tyranny of the pot growers. It begins with a surveyor who is leading the town's crooked sheriff to a small marijuana field he has just discovered. The surveyor is killed before he can get there. Joshua, a small boy, sees the execution and tries to get back in time to tell his parents. Unfortunately, the killers murder his family and throw him off a cliff. The boy's aunt, worried at not hearing from her family, gets suspicious and asks an old flame, NY cop Joe Dillon, to investigate. The town sheriff is not pleased by his intrusion and warns him to stay out of it. Dillon disobeys, and that is where all the action comes in.more

A nasty formula action film about a drug smuggling scheme in the Pacific Northwest.

For all its woefully generic trappings, outlandishly ineffectual music, and cardboard-flavored dialogue, Quiet Cool does offer an appreciable amount of mayhem for your rental dollar.

A formulaic '80s action cheapie full of bad acting, trite dialogue and by-the-numbers action.

James Remar! This movie's title fits it perfectly. I remember seeing Remar do outstanding work in Walter Hill's films, Drugstore Cowboy and Tales From the Darkside: The Movie, and being saddened that he seemed to disappear from films for a while. Thank God though for Cable TV, I've been watching him in Dexter and boy the man can act. Why is it that HBO and Showtime are making more interesting, deep and artistic TV shows than Hollywood can make movies? Well, if you want to see James Remar, Powers Boothe or any other cool character actors of the past, it seems cable TV now has the best actors as well.... oh yeah, the movie! It's a heck a lot of fun and blah, blah, blah. If you dig tough guy action films, you'll probably dig this one. Yaaay James Remar.

I need to catch the end of this. The music was good and it was overall very 80s. But it had some ok action scenes, even if the acting got too far over the top.
I couldn't recommend it (unless maybe you are nostaligic for the mid-Eighties,) but I woudl watch it again.
