Donner has never been known as one who directs with a light touch, and Radio Flyer suffers from the same sense of weightiness that has bogged down so many of his other pictures.

Top CriticIt's not a total loss, but the voice-over is infuriatingly overdone, as if the film-makers didn't trust the visuals, the kids are resistible and the tone's discomfortingly cute.
