Just a Little Blip on the Rambo Horizon
by Scott Weinberg | April 13, 2006
Discuss Article
Just when we were getting used to hearing about a new Rocky movie, Dark Horizons and Sly Central remind us that there's also another Rambo movie on the horizon! Whether or not this is good news is up to you, of course, but the sites had a brief Q & A with one of the behind-the-scenes players, and here's what he had to say...

"It is a wonderful story that mixes the original First Blood with the later Rambo films extremely well. Think of the fugitive as the young Rambo which was featured in First Blood. He has been wrongfully accused of war crimes that he did not commit and has also lost his family... All I can say is that Matthew Fox from televisions Lost is being considered but so are many other actors at this point."

Sequel-itis is ruining the industry. Stop the madness. Boycott all sequels and re-makes!

Limiting Stallone
Sounds like they'll be taking the focus off Rambo himself with this new younger character -- an obvious ploy to try to keep the series alive with another character. This trick of surrounding Stallone with younger characters didn't work at all in "Driven."

Sequels
I happen to like sequels. I like being familiar with the characters, seeing what happens next in their journey. Things like that. If it is done well there is nothing wrong with telling more of a certain character's story. It is interesting, and some of the best movies have multiple parts. Like The Lord of the Rings. If and when they make the Hobbit, no one will be complaining. I realize that those are one larger story told in four books, but he had to write one book first, so in reality they are sequels. All I'm saying is, if they are done well sequels can be very good. Of course, some of the magic wore off by Haloween 25, but that's another story....

I think the real questions are;

A.) What the hell is that picture doing up there? That piece of shite film has nothing to do with rambo other than Sly if I'm not mistaken. Why not show a picture of.....hm...Rambo?

B.) Whos house are we going to have the mass-suicide at?

I've been waiting for a sequel to that film. The chemistry between Stallone and Russell was quite good. Too bad Teri Hatcher isn't as hot now as she was in that film.

Lets not forget Cobra. Seriously though, word among us in the industry is that the new Rocky is the best since the original. As for Rambo, why not, the first two were great, and the third one just suffered from bad timing. There is always a place for good action films, we just have had so few in recent years.
