This made-for-TV actioner was designed as the pilot for a series based on the popular Walking Tall films of the 1970s. This time out, a young Brian Dennehy is cast as the stick-wielding, scrupulously honest Tennessee sheriff Buford Pusser (played in the films by Joe Don Baker and Bo Svenson), with Forrest Tucker repeating his role from Walking Tall: The Final Chapter as Pusser's father. I would say this movie is worth seeing. It reminds me of the type of movie that you could catch on cable any night of the week; not worth paying more than say a dollar for at any rate. Brian Dennehy is pretty good. There are some acting gaffes but the thing comes together OK by the end. It does have some sad parts.

Joe Meisterman

Well meaning but flat telling of Buford Pusser, the hero sheriff that have spawned quite a few movies. The acting is fair, it just isn't very involving. It was made for network television and it shows.
