Jo, I see you have the leftist "blame America first" mentality down pat. N. Korea is communist. It is that fact that has it's people living in hell, not the US. I have yet, to see this movie but do plan to. The original is one of my Favs out of the 80's. It had a pro- freedom message that I find appealing. Hollywood is famous for shoving anti-American garbage down our throats, it is nice when they throw a bone to us who do not hate this country.

funny thing is that there are actual people who now have a hatred/fear of asians now. even though the enemy was NORTH korean, they seem to think the south koreans are in the same boat. some even extend it to the the neighboring countries...

It's not the movie that's offensive. It's the idea that some people can't distinguish between (admittedly) mindless entrainment and actual foreign policy and "American Values." Indicting America and moreover American people on the strength of a crappy movie whose only real crowd draw is nostalgia for an equally crappy Cold War cinema bullet fest is just silly. You may have a message in there somewhere Joe, but if this the best vehicle you can find for it you aren't trying very hard. I mean, I don't think every Australian is a backwater hick with corks hanging off their hats who guzzle Castelmain XXXX, or backstabbing neighbor boinking loonies just because I've seen Neighbors or Welcome to the Woop Woop (Not necessarily in that order...but maybe it's been several years since I've seen Neighbors or Home and Away.)

American's can't win. They catch flack for getting involved (Libya) and for not getting involved soon enough (World War 2) or at all (Rwanda.) Take your pick as to what you want to be pissed off about. Getting pissed off about a movie (especially a bad one) and using as validation for anything is pretty silly though.
