Madsen Still Wants to Do "Vega Brothers" with Tarantino
Know that "Vega Brothers" project that Quentin Tarantino keeps mentioning every once in a while, only to shove it onto a back burner when something more interesting comes up? Apparently some sort of spin-off flick that'd be cousin to "Reservoir Dogs" and "Pulp Fiction," the thing might actually get made -- if Michael Madsen has anything to say about it.
From Moviehole and Guardian: "It's the film Quentin Tarantino fans have spent the best part of a decade waiting for. The latest word from Michael Madsen is that the proposed Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs spin-off, featuring Madsen and John Travolta as the Vega brothers, could be heading for production after all.
The idea originally formed in Tarantino's mind because Vincent Vega from Pulp Fiction and Vic Vega from Reservoir Dogs had always been conceived as siblings. But with both characters having been killed in their respective films, the only possibility appeared to be a prequel, which was looking less and less likely given the advancing years of Travolta, 51, and Madsen, 48. According to Madsen, however, the maverick director has come up with an ingenious plan to make the film happen after all."

donkeytron writes: on Nov 14 2006 09:34 AM Of course he wants to do it. His career's in the toilet. Travolta's not much better off, either. Unless you think playing a 400 pound drag queen is a good career move for him. Tarantino's just humoring that Madsen character. This will never get made. (Reply to this) |

FireflyFan4evr writes: on Nov 14 2006 11:37 AM I love Pulp Fiction, but can't stand "Dogs" and I think Tarantino should stick to things a bit more interesting than treading the water he's swam before. Think of it this way, where would Madsen be in his career if it wasn't for Tarantino or Rodriguez? Travolta wouldn't be much better either. Just finish Grindhouse already. (Reply to this) |

Darkness My Old Friend writes: on Nov 14 2006 12:38 PM A far better idea would be to have Vic and Vince being sent back from either Heaven or Hell, depending on how Q-Ball wants to play it, to carry out some sort of task. It'd be like Reservoir Dogs meets Spawn meets that one movie where the guy comes back to life as like... a dog or a lion or something and has to help his family or something. It's golden! See those pitching skills? That'd KILL in a Fox boardroom. (Reply to this) |

Throwback writes: on Nov 14 2006 02:55 PM As much as I want to see a Travolta/Tarantino reunion, this idea doesn't make sense to me. They can't avenge Mr. Blonde since Mr. Orange kills him, but dies at the end of RD. So would Butch from PF be a factor, since he killed Vincent? (Reply to this) |

Can't really see how a fan of his would say this is stupid, so I'm surprised by the low turnout in these comments. I'd rather see Tarantino move to different subject matter too, but it's certainly not stupid... (Reply to this) |

But yeah, hopefully they'll drop this and move on to "Inglorious Bastards," I'd love to see Tarantino's take on a WWII flick w/ Madsen at lead. (Reply to this) |
