Michael Madsen Wonders When "Sin City 2" Will Get Rolling
by Scott Weinberg | May 31, 2007
Discuss Article
"Reservoir Dogs" star Michael Madsen has a bunch of new projects on the horizon, but when asked about the status of "Sin City 2," he expresses some doubts that it'll even happen...

In an interview with Premiere.com, Madsen says "They haven't shot it yet. I don't know if they ever will. I am not sure [about] the franchise. I think the Grindhouse thing didn't kind of work out..."

What "Grindhouse" has to do with the financial prospects of "Sin City 2," I have no idea. The first "Sin City" certainly made its money back and then some, so I'm betting it'll still happen. Just probably not real soon is all.

And when asked about his relationship with "SC" creator Frank Miller, Mr. Madsen says "I talk to Frank Miller quite often. He came up to my house and we drank a lot of tequila. Frank is pretty funny. I haven't seen the script for Sin City 2. I don't know if they are gonna make it. I hope they do. And if and when they do, I will be in it."

For a whole bunch more, check out the full interview at Premiere.com.

ok, NOW i'm wondering if they really are gonna make this thing. it sounds like they have alot of "hey man lets do this...YEEEEEAH lets do this too!!" ideas but nothing actually is ever set. i knew this franchise was in trouble the second i heard Miller was penning a spinoff with the nancy character(alba). lets hope everybody involved sobers up...and makes this bad boy sometime before the characters become too old(uh, Indiana Jones anybody???) and it doesn't just look a desperate plea to make a buck.

Why are they even mentioning Grindhouse?
Seriously, 2 different genres. Even if it has the same director. This is BS if they're gonna hold Grindhouse over RR head and not let him make SC2.

IF THEY WERE WORRIED ABOUT MONEY WHY WOULDN'T THEY
I don't believe they won't let him make Sin City 2 for financial reasons. That was one of his most profitable movies and if they were smart Robert Rodriguez would be getting started on it to try to make up for Grindhouse's numbers. If money was the issue why the holy shit would he be remaking Barberella? I mean seriously...why the hell can't they get Sin City 2 together??? There is so much more material from the books they can cover why sit around and waste time? Forget Angelina Jolie she would ruin the integrity of the movies and she is one of the main reasons it was first put on hold. This movie should have already been out by now it these film makers didn't have their thumbs up their asses!!!

Yeah, I know what you mean.

I wasn't trying to make Grindhouse to be a bad film, I loved the damn thing.

But if they are putting it over his head because it didn't sell and they expect the same thing for SC2, then thats BS.

Grindhouse was fantastic. Still probably my favorite film of the year. Sin City 2 will happen, sooner or later....

Way to go Gimy, you've already determined Indiana Jones won't work before production has even begun on it. Nice work.
