"Resident" Regulars Line Up
by Scott Weinberg | April 17, 2006
Discuss Article
Variety reports that both Oded Fehr and Sienna Guillory will join Milla Jovovich and return for Resident Evil: Extinction, the second sequel in a series produced by the genre-centric Paul W.S. Anderson.

Says Variety: "Oded Fehr will reprise his role in the third installment of the "Resident Evil" franchise, starring alongside Milla Jovovich.

"Resident Evil: Extinction," adapted from the vidgame, revolves around the continuing battle against the evil Umbrella by Alice and her allies.

Skedded to begin shooting in Mexico in May, pic is once again from a screenplay by Paul W.S. Anderson, who runs Impact with producing partner Jeremy Bolt.

Russell Mulcahy is directing; cast includes Mike Epps, Iain Glen and Sienna Guillory."

Only 5 videogame based movies have made a profit. Both Mortal Kombats, both Resident Evil, and the first Tomb Raider. That's all. As long as they keep Uwe Boll away from it, this could be decent.

I'm waiting until the next movie, when they base it off Resident Evil 4. Now that needs to be a movie.

With a title called Extinction, one can only hope that this will be the last and final one.

Profitable video game based movies.
What about the Godfather? Now there's a great movie based on a video game.

Hey 3263827 (and what's up with that name anyway), what are you talking about? The Godfather wasn't based on a video game. Or maybe that was a reallly bad attempt at sarcasm or something?

the second one is awful, the first one the ok, but PWS anderson is a moron, is he would just stay true to the vid storyline it would have being much better, image a faithful adaptation of resident evil 4, with the castle, the maze, the regenerators, the giant, etc

but, no no no, the moron has to make up a sad little reimagination that sucks

but the dirextor this time is the guy who directed the first highlander, so who knows?

its going to be hard to bring up a RE4 movie based off the videogame, considering that leon still has not been introduced...i am still pissed about that, and the fact that jill valentine of all people got in, even if she is one of the actual characters from the game...whatever i'll still see it, who am i kidding i am a sucker for these movies

Paul W.S. Anderson and Uwe Boll need to be barred from making video-game movies.

The second was more successful, so that "first 5" theory is out the window (as Mario Brother, Double Dragon, House of the Dead and Mortal Kombat 2 all came out before RE:A). This series does well, and that's why there are sequels. Sure they suck, but they were never flops. They are HUGELY successful in Japan...

I'm looking forward to the continuation of the storyline in 3. Not having played the games, this series has completely drawn me in. It's not the greatest video game movie but I found it enjoyable.

"Followed my posts?" C'mon. I'm sure people look for comments by dylan21484nj to see what he'll say next. If you don't like the movie, don't watch it. Apparently some people do, so let 'em.

And the Godfather thing was a joke. Yeesh.

You know, both Resident Evils were crappy but entertaining. What I call a 'So bad it's good' movie. They had the plus of having Milla Jovovich as well. Not the greatest talent but nice to watch kick ass. On the other hand Uwe Boll movies are just so bad they're literally stinking bad and should not be shown to the public. This is the difference between Paul Anderson and Uwe Boll IMO.

Hey I was over at IGN and they're also reporting that a 3rd Resident Evil movie is being made, but there are a few differences. THEY claim that the movie is called "Resident Evil: Afterlife", and they also have a plot description as to what the movie will be about, should be interesting to see which site is right heh, later.

"The storyline takes place after a major outbreak of the zombie virus. Alice must battle the Umbrella Corporation to prevent a race of clones called the "Undead" from completing the extinction of mankind." IGN.com

The first one was decent, the second one was terrible. A third? I'm not so sure about that but I guess it can't be any worse than the second and it did well at the box office soooo ....

Oddly enough, I think the opposite of most people. First one terrible, second one at least competently directed.... for the most part.
