Teaser Time for "Resident Evil: Extinction"
by Scott Weinberg | February 21, 2007
Discuss Article
Say what you will about the "Resident Evil" flicks, but they sure are advertised pretty cleverly. Then again, when the best thing you can say about a movie is "the teaser trailer sure was cool," there's definitely a problem.

The teaser trailer to which I am referring was the one for "Resident Evil: Apocalypse," a sequel that pretty much stunk. But since I'm still a fan of the original "Resident Evil," I'm just a little psyched to see Part 3, which goes by the title of "Resident Evil: Extinction." Check out the first teaser trailer right here.

Official synopsis: "The third and final installment of the franchise is again based on the wildly popular video game series and picks up where the last film left off. Alice (Milla Jovovich), now in hiding in the Nevada desert, once again joins forces with Carlos Olivera (Oded Fehr) and L.J. (Mike Epps), along with new survivors Claire (Ali Larter), K-Mart (Spencer Locke) and Nurse Betty (Ashanti) to try to eliminate the deadly virus that threatens to make every human being undead... and to seek justice."

Directed by Russell Mulcahy and written by "Evil" overseer Paul W.S. Anderson, "RE3" opens on September 21st.

That's one good thing that can be said about Transformers. "At least it won't be this bad."

I liked the first one, and I think that this teaser's pretty good, so I'm looking foreward to it.

never happening. this franchise already blew the Resident Evil load. even though they both sucked, the first two films were profitable. the first made money because it was "a Resident Evil movie!" and the second one made cash because because of the combination of people who said "the first was mediocre, so the second one MUST be better!" (i know because i was one of those people) and the people who will see ANYTHING on a Friday night. even if Extinction bombs in the BO, Sony and Screen Gems still made cash on the first two (and will probably still make cash on the third thanks to DVD sales) and they'll take their money and run. there won't ever be a real Resident Evil movie.

Good point, Dylan. I'm still pissed over Jill Valentine. Not only did they completely sqaunder her character in the sequel by making her second tier, but they insult us all by not even bringing her back for the third. Just more of this generic Alice superhero wannabe. These clowns need to get a clue. Vulnerability is what makes the heroes compelling in the Resident Evil franchise, not super heroics. Milla's a looker, sure. But if they were gonna play this thing on a fascination of her then they should have just dyed her hair and made her Valentine.

I saw the trailer last weekend, and granted it did look good, with as bad as the second movie was I'm not sure I could handle seeing the third. I'm also of the opinion they shoudl go with a las plagas storyline instead of a g-virus or t-virus.

Also why bring back the mike epps character in what seems to be more of a fighting movie. Yes he made sense as a survivor in the second film, but if they are going to take an all out war to umbrella, he doesn't seem like the best choice.

I disagree big time Scott. RE:A was a pretty decent flick. It can't be compared with the first. Not because it was inferior, but, in a way, they were just two totally different films. One was more of a horror based on eerie music and rooms, while the second was an action horror. I'm psyched about RE:E.

Incorrect Vegas geography
Panning out from the destroyed Vegas, you can see New York, New York on the left and the MGM on the right, then as it pulls out it is luxor on the left and tropicana on the right. Instead the Excalibur should be between NY, NY and the Luxor. Granted it could be assumed to be destroyed entirely, but the shot doesn't have enough space in between to fit it. I only notice it as I stayed there during both visits to Vegas.

What? You liked it? Man, they turned the Nemesis monster into a sidekick! That's like turning Lex Luthor into an infant with a temper.
