Nasty New Red-Band Trailer for Resident Evil 3
Even our trailers get unrated editions now!
by Scott Weinberg | July 31, 2007
Discuss Article
I've said it before and I'll say it again right now: I dig Resident Evil. No not the second one, you lunatic. My passion for cheeseball cinema only goes so far. But I dig the first flick enough to look forward to the third flick, despite the (wide) opinion that the second flick sucked eggs. Horror geeks are funny that way.

So with Russell Mulcahy's Resident Evil: Extinction only a few weeks away, why not settle down for a gory little red-band trailer that you certainly won't catch prior to a screening of Harry Potter or Ratatouille. (True, you wouldn't even see the 'green-band' trailer in front of those movies, but who needs logic when we're talking about this particular movie series?)

As you're no doubt aware by new, RE3 is a futuristic horror / sci-fi / action sequel that sees Milla Jovovich kicking all sorts of mutated zombie keester. Although the screenplay was written by series overseer Paul W.S. Anderson, genre fans should take note: Mr. Mulcahy has actually directed some rather good genre movies in his career. (Ahem, Highlander.) Ah, and it's not a couple weeks, sorry: It's Sept. 21st.

(Double ahem, Highlander ONE!)

Well gee that doesn't look quite as completely godawful as the other movies. I'm glad the series' aesthetic has progressed from Sprite commercial to, like, dusty...crap...commercial. That dialogue made me want to puncture my eardrums with needles. I know it's based on a game with infamously ****ty dialogue but at least they were interactive and had, like, an atmosphere, while these movies have Marilyn Manson drowning out anything approaching what would be called "tension" in a movie that is good.

Does anyone else think this entire series was greenlit so Paul Worthless S--t Anderson could get Milla Jovovich naked in three movies in a row? OMG make her a clone, so we can see lots of Milla nekkid as opposed to just one! One is not enough. Leeloo Of Arc nekkid times like a thousand hundred million...with boobies!

I don't remember Mila naked in the first one but for a quick shot. And I don't remember it at all in the second one. Perhaps I fell asleep...or the movies are just that forgetable. And how do you know she'll be naked in this one?

errrgh. after the second one i don't think so. If she gets naked more than once then maybe. But really I don't see how anyone could think this will be a good movie.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I REALLY want to like this movie. If you're listening movie gods, please save this franchise.

Hated the first two, loved the games, but this one.... Looks great to me!!! By now i have forgotten all about the games so the diffrence between them no longer bothers me. This looked like a good fun movie.

Cant wait for the new SHINOBI movie, we need a decent Ninja film.

I got a soft spot for this movie series for some reason. I've never played the games, I'm not a horror buff at all, I hate zombie movies, and yet......I still like these movies. I even liked the second one. I think it more has to do with me just liking chicks that kick *** in film. :P So......if there is truly that much *** kicking by Milla, like the trailer shows, then I think I'll like this one too. :)

Sorry but the resi films aren't good at all. Im big enough of a fan that went to watch them in cinema, they're just really crappy movies. Silent Hill is the only decent adaptation I've seen, well until Hitman comes out.

there's a reason you like these movies, gattaca13. it's because these movies aren't really zombie movies. they're action sci-fi movies with a few zombies sprinkled in. these movies are tame, goreless action movies with the Resident Evil name slapped on them to dupe gamers into forking over $8.50 on a Friday night.

i'm done with these movies. what a damn disappointment. this series had the potential to be very scary zombies films up there with Romero's Dead movies, but instead they go the action/sci-fi Matrix Lite angle to pander to the MTV generation who just want to see shooting guns and kung fu fighting chopped up so poorly that you can't really tell what's going on. nothing short of a Batman Begins-style reboot could have saved this franchise, so thank god they're stopping after this one.

Highlander is the biggest piece of **** i have ever seen. I am so tired of people talking about it like it's Citizen Kane. the fact that russell mulcahy is directing this is enought for me to stay away and i liked the first one.

I think Milla may be using her boobies for child nourishing now. She's still a cash cow.
Do any of us think of young, stick-figure models as mothers? We grow into our roles as
time marches on. I put up a post elsewhere about her returning to her movie-girl weight.
It looks as if by SDCC she hadn't lost all the weight (see 1st sentence). Don't get me
wrong... I'm all for change into a more real body. I just wonder how the ticket buying
boys (& girls) will react upon seeing the media interviewers' microphones 'shrink'. Have I brought up a controversy?
