Vin Diesel's Best Movies

Summary

It's been nearly a decade since the surly, freaky-eyed Richard Riddick graced our cineplex screens, but even after the relative failure of 2004's The Chronicles of Riddick, fans never lost hope that we'd see his return -- and neither did Riddick's portrayer, Vin Diesel, who fought long and hard to secure funding for a third installment. It took a lot of work (and leveraging his house) to make it happen, but Riddick is finally here. Naturally, we decided that this week would be the perfect time to devote an installment of Total Recall to the Diesel filmography, and recount the critical high points of a journey that's taken him from bit player to $100 million-grossing franchise topliner, multi-hyphenate media mogul, social media star, and future Marvel hero. Get ready for plenty of action, folks -- it's Vin Diesel time! Back to Article

It's a sin that Iron Giant is ranked higher than saving Private Ryan.

I'm not sure, but I understand where you are coming from. Just reading the summary of Iron Giant above and replaying the climactic scene with the one word made me tear up.

Look, don't get me wrong I'm not downplaying the role of voice over work but I think the point is that animated movies can still be successful without a recognizable actor tagged onto the credits! After all, Vin Diesel's name wasn't even a household name during the time of "The Iron Giant's" initial release!

Very surprised Boiler Room, while fresh, isn't a bit MORE fresh. Loved that movie. The only complaint I could see might be, "too similar to Wall Street." Well, yeah, and that was kind of the point; a Wall Street for the new millennium.

The trouble with Vin Diesel is that he never really becomes his characters. It's always basically himself showing up in different movies. His distinct voice is quite unique, which is why he does great in voice acting roles. (Hopefully as Groot in Guardians of the Galaxy)

"Just because you sound like Genie from Aladdin, doesn't make you Robin Williams"

I just wanted to respond to this, I just wanted to say that if there were no credits, you could be going on thinking that Robin Williams voiced all of the "Aladdin" movies! Had people had not known that Robin Williams didn't do the voice work of the genie for the rest of the movies people such as yourself would not have known about it all! If producers don't want to use the original voices does not mean that the actual film itself is not very good!

I always believed Diesel came back to the Fast & Furious franchise because his career wasn't that successful, and I feel he can thank Dwayne Johnson's coming in the franchise for its current success.

I enjoyed XXX, I didn't see the sequel.

I need to listen to the Iron Giant in English, I saw the French version only because my kids don't speak English yet.

Why does that deserve a facepalm? And, if even if he'd read the credits at the time of its release in 1999, the name "Vin Diesel" would've meant nothing. Sometimes it's only in retrospect that you realize so-and-so played such-and-such a role, once they've become more popular.

You tell me, was Vin Diesel a household name to you during the year of 1999! And are you one of those people who always read and remember everyone in the credits after watching every movie!
