They probably should have called it "Beneath the Dignity of the Planet of the Apes," but "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" is tolerable if you'll just keep in mind that the original feature was an overachieving B-movie.
What a stupid fing comment...Wouldn't it be nice if movie critics actually gave reviews rather than try and be different and creative! It is very clear you are only trying to make a name for yourself and in the process avoiding doing something anyone can do...reviewing movies...hahaha. You are like the journalist that rides the short bus!!
Kyle Smith is easily one of the worst movie reviewers in the business .. He calls this an 'overachieving B-Movie' but gives the movie 2/4 (which is a low C Grade Movie).. He just wanted to be the sore thumb and stick out among the other top critics..
There are going to be a lot of reasons people love this film or hate it. But commom! Are the critics thinking that people go to the movies now are going to go rent the 1968 version and like it better than this? It was a pretty good movie but the classic unless you are a really movie fan and hardcore sci-fi fan you are not going to like it that much! Time change Critics! They are better special effects now and resourses to make movies! Ideas? well! I think directors run out of them.
This reviewer clearly has a very bad memory or a very short attention span. Many of his negative points are completely factually wrong such as the part about Will not telling his boss about how the drug cured his dads Alzheimer and how the boss just suddenly went power hungry. Attention critic, he DID tell his boss which was when the boss went power hungry at the chance to make zillions of dollars. Either pay attention or find a new damn job.

This has absolutely NOTHING to do with the original, Kook!
