[H]alf good and half bad, and the primary dividing line is by genus.
Really? I thought the movie was pretty good actually...It felt like the STAR TREK Reboot. :)

I agree with Orr's criticisms but still enjoyed the movie. The good outweighed the bad for me, but it's easy to see why someone would expect more.

Same here. I really enjoyed the movie, it's one of my favorite this year, but this criticism is quite valid. The human half of this movie - especially the protagonists - was lackluster to say the least, though I found the ape characters to be more than stellar enough to make up for it. The only human characters I found compelling in the least were antagonists, especially Tom Felton. Honestly, I find James Franco bland in general, and I think a stronger actor could have done a great deal more with his role.

The Neighbours acting was kinda poor as well.

This is the best movie since Minority Report! I recommend this film for any science fiction or animal lover. This movie is a non stop thrill ride and you root for the chimps the whole way through. It carries a strong message against animal testing and a message to the human race as a whole: We had better WAKE-UP and realize our place as only ONE of MANY species on this planet. We were not here first and we will certainly not be here last (unless we wind up nuking the whole damn place). We DO NOT own the Earth and we will only expedite our extinction with an arrogance that makes us think we are smarter than Mother Nature.

Really of all the stands and resistance, and an imposing No! you still found this movie as is about animal testing?

@Lilith B. -- Minority Report came out in 2002. You seriously think RotPofA was the best movie in 9 years? How many movies have you seen in the past 9 years?
