Synopsis: Two eccentric con artists, Tulio and Miguel, are shooting craps in the sun-squelched streets of 16th-century Spain when they win a sacred map charting the way to El Dorado, the lost City of Gold,... Two eccentric con artists, Tulio and Miguel, are shooting craps in the sun-squelched streets of 16th-century Spain when they win a sacred map charting the way to El Dorado, the lost City of Gold, and see it as their ticket both to adventure and an enormous fortune. With the map in hand, they stow away on the ship of evil Spanish leader Cortez, bound for Cuba. By chance, the two men are thrown off course and find themselves in a lush and vibrant rainforest replete with exotic animals, hidden waterfalls, and traces of an Indian civilization. Stumbling upon the gate to El Dorado, Tulio and Miguel are thought to be gods by a group of Mayan natives, and they are led into the heart of the city for a special welcoming ceremony. There they meet the adorable Chel, a con artist herself, who practically bests them at their own tricks. In the end, the two friends must choose whether they will stay and enjoy life in the magical city of El Dorado or make off with the gold and return to Western culture as rich men. [More]

El Dorado is a cut above most action-adventure animated movies because of the integration of Kline and Branagh's comedic talents with their cartoon selves.

Its animation is simply glorious, but its story and characters are trite.

El Dorado is not striking or groundbreaking, but it's accomplished enough.

Su argumento es bastante débil y esta estructurado tan pobremente que no logra empatizar con la audiencia

It does not represent engaging entertainment for parents as well as their children.

How Hollywood's animated filmmakers can continue to crank out pictures built on the same template year after year and have them continue to be even occasionally entertaining is something I'll never completely understand.

It's a bright and enjoyable tale, well told and beautifully performed -- so good that, at times, you forget it's animated at all.

The Road to El Dorado is a bit too standard-issue to climb out from under its nouveau Disney house style look and supply much in the way of innovative glitter.

The animation is certainly impressive, but the story and music are much less so.

One wonders who was this animated film made for, anyway? Certainly not for kids. And not for this adult.

I expected to have a lot more fun...than I did, which is a shame. I think it's going to fall quickly by the wayside.
