A dark and brawny version of the Robin Hood legend that anchors itself in English history and loses some of the merriment in the process.

Don't know about English history but Crowe's 'English' accent started in Wellington, veered through the Belfast, Glasgow and ended up in urban Manchester. I think you'd have to be a bit merry to find interest in this film.
