HUGE Robotech like many here, and I'm torn. I'm sure there's a director that could do it well - Singer? Ang Lee? I have no idea, really. However, let's play it safe and not do it at all. Thank you.

How about doing a live-action film like Robotech, but come up with a different story, and call it something else so that we're not leeching onto another franchise that people love. You know that they won't follow the source material correctly anyways and they could try to avoid the immense critisicm that's going to come with making this movie. I suppose if they didn't call it Robotech, people will just say that they're ripping off Robotech and still be angry.

I think it would make a better television drama like Heroes or Battlestar. Either way Robotech was my first experience to a cartoon drama and for that I will see it in theaters.

Aren't those big mech pieces of machinery actually vehicles, rather than robots? I watched the American version some when I was a kid, but haven't kept up with it since, so I don't remember for sure.

If they try and keep it "Smart and Sophisticated" and keep Micheal Bay away from the project it has potential to be a good movie. Way better than Transformers. Or at least it'll have more substance.

As a Macross fan, I don't know whether to laugh or to cry. Just from reading the rough synopsis, it seems that they're ignoring the theme behind the original anime series, where "protoculture" refered to the human culture that the aliens lacked rather than a vauge energy source that was developed for the US translation. I think the former makes for a much more interesting premise.

i think it will kick *** Tobey Maguire has said that he was an avid Robotech cartoon fan so i don't think he will let it get messed up to badly especially since he will be producing.

Its an Anime from the 80's, who friggin cares if they make a movie out of it, its not for

you, its for the masses that loves when everything blows up, Hollywood is taking

everything that's popular in another medium and making it to make money. Oh and as for

ruining your childhood, if you still covet this show as much as you did when you were 10

then you have problems, don't get me wrong i love the things that i grew up with but if

you have an ulcer every time they make a movie about something from when you were a kid

you need new hobbies. So stop crying and move out of your mothers basement.
