Ebert, if you go and see it with a live audience the film is 100 times better than if you watch it alone. I could totally see you getting up and doing the time warp again!
Forgettable?! Roger Ebert, c'mon, man! You're my all time favorite critic, yet you thumb down this and Brazil? Everything you rate depends on me, of course, so yeah, always follow what I say, lol. Anyway though, I do see your side of the story, as experiencing Rocky Horror live on stage would be 1000x more spectacular. Still though, this is a great adaptation, and you cannot deny the masterful performance from Tim Curry as Dr. Frank-N-Furter.
I think Mr. Ebert needs to recheck himself, considering he's talking about the biggest cult film of all time, which also has the longest cinematic run in film HISTORY! And I'm not saying that's what makes this a good movie; what makes RHPS a great movie is its luridness, its sense of unearthliness shown right from scene one until the credits. Sure, it has its flaws, as all movies do, but dammit I won't sit here and willingly acknowledge the fact that RHPS was given a rotten review by one of the world most well known critics. It's blasphemous, especially to a movie-lover, like myself! I had to deal with the fact that he gave my FAVORITE movie, A Clockwork Orange a negative review, and now that I saw this...no no, I wasn't going to keep quite about this one.
