Movie Info

The Republic musical western Rootin' Tootin' Rhythm manages to have its cake and eat it too. It not only delivers the songs expected of the star Gene Autry's fan following, but also provides plenty of action for the non-music fans in the crowd. The picture ambles amiably through its first few reels while Autry and Smiley Burnette pose as a pair of supposedly dead bandits in order to get the goods on a gang of rustlers. Then, just when it seems as though the musical numbers will predominate, the picture delivers a slam-bang chase sequence, with Autry pursuing a runaway buckboard (with its terrified passenger, leading lady Armida) as a treacherous thunderstorm looms just over the horizon. Rootin' Tootin' Rhythm was released in Great Britain as Rhythm on the Ranch.more
