Apart from the tedium of waiting or someone to open that chest and discover the hidden body which the hosts have tucked away for the sake of a thrill, the unpunctuated flow of image becomes quite monotonous.
Bosley Crowther may have been the worst critic of his time.

armond white is the worst, but with reviews like this, crowther is trying.

Anyone noticed that a lot of the critics that ruin 100% or 0% in some cases are "top critics"? What the hell?

So everyone who likes this would be disagreeing with the Top Critic score. :|

Well, he's a fool, but this is one of Hitchcock's worst. Granted, it's not because of anything under his control but because of the poor script.

Crowther is not the only critic who dislikes Hitchcock's "Rope." Though their reviews are not here, Variety and Roger Ebert also did not like the film. Ebert, though, briefly recommended it in his review, but his overhaul consensus is Hitchcock experiment that failed. Rotten Tomatoes likes to manipulate ratings because 97% is quite higher than it should be! However, I need to re-watch "Rope" to give a better opinion.

I didn't think it was that great of a film, especially compared to the stellar 'Dial M for Murder', but I still think it deserves a fresh score.
