Reviews for Rush Hour
Chan is as sweet and charming as ever. Tucker makes an excellent foil. And things blow up.
Most of it pales in comparison to Chan's earlier movies, which makes one wonder if he might be getting too old for some of the more dangerous fare he might have attempted five or ten years ago. Let's hope not.
Rush Hour effectively teams Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker in a formulaic but funny action comedy that should please fans of both stars.
Rush Hour, starring Chan and Chris Tucker as a couple of mismatched cops on the trail of a kidnapper, is more of an American film. Although it features plenty of Chan's mind-boggling physical agility, it really showcases the comic abilities of both men.
Just when you thought cop-buddy pictures were toast (Lethal Weapon), along comes a suprisingly kick-ass riff on the genre!
While it is cartoonish, it also is fun, and that is due mostly to Chan.
A second-rate comedy that's wrapped around a third-rate action movie.
Hollywood calculation can't match the primitive eager-to-please quality that made those Hong Kong films refreshing; they were appealing because they were so free of irony.
The movie is no more than a well-produced confection designed for quick payoff in the big cities, but it's pretty consistently funny.
Classy and brassy, Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker are a funky, well-matched duo in New Line's winning Rush Hour.
The story is still routine, and still predictable, and still unimportant.
If one of the cinema's most unique talents has decided to make another go of it in Hollywood, Rush Hour isn't a bad start.
[Chan] should be doing his high kicks well into his sixties. Let's hope so.
