Sun Rises on "Rush Hour 3"
MTV.com reports from the set of "Rush Hour 3," where 7'9" Chinese basketball player Sun Ming Ming is playing the heavy to Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan's perennially fish-out-of-water police detectives.
Brought in by director Brett Ratner, who expressed a desire to inject some "new blood" into the "Rush Hour" series, Sun Ming Ming offers moviegoers the chance to see an updated, inverted look at Bruce Lee's battle with Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in 1978's "Game of Death." As Ratner told MTV.com:
"It's the reverse, so now instead of a Chinese guy fighting a big black guy, you have a small black guy fighting a big Chinese guy...I'm not going to show you the outcome, because I want it to be a surprise, but this guy is big."

Tucker and Chan in "Rush Hour 2."
The rest of the article is sprinkled with quotes from Ratner, Tucker, and Chan that are -- depending on your point of view regarding the odds of "Rush Hour 3" being the least bit watchable -- either exciting or unintentionally humorous, including Tucker calling the movie "one big outtake," Chan saying "I risk my life to do the best," and Ratner's declaration that "It's 'Rush Hour' to the next level...Look out."
"Rush Hour 3" is being prepared for an August 10th release.

The plot was interesting enough from a martial arts point of view, but Bruce Lee's death in the middle of shooting (and the splicing of old Lee footage to complete the film) left it feeling disjointed. But kudos to movies like RH III and Kill Bill that give props to that Lee classic in their own way. (Reply to this) |

I Am Remote writes: on Jan 26 2007 09:33 AM Tucker always says crap like this. I remember him saying that they "threw out the script" during the 2nd one and improved all the scenes. Maybe for some of the comedy, but it was a cohesive story. He's just exaggerating. (Reply to this) |
