Total Recall: Movies With Matching Titles

Summary

Safe isn't just the title of this weekend's Jason Statham MMA action thriller, it's also the name of a critically acclaimed Todd Haynes drama starring Julianne Moore. This isn't the first time multiple movies have shared a title, of course, but noticing the latest example on the release schedule got us thinking -- and by the time we'd finished thinking, we had ourselves a list. From Oscar winners to infamous duds, here are 24 movies with only a dozen titles between them. It's time for Total Recall! Back to Article

The 1998 Avengers is based on the TV show(neither are related to MARVEL)...that (1998) film is horrid, so don't bother.
I can't believe they left that one out considering The Avengers was JUST RELEASED.

In the same vein as the two films called Twilight, there was also a Breaking Dawn in 2004, though it wasn't split into two parts to milk a franchise that refuses to die.

look for one-word titles. There are a lot of movies called "The Wolf", three "Aurora", "The Kid" (Charlie Chaplin's and Bruce Willis' movies), two "Heat"

I still like Cronenberg's Crash much more than the award winning one.

The Wrestler and The Wrestler- one is from the seventies with Ed Asner as a pro-wrestling promoter which featured many famous pro-wrestlers and promoters of the day in cameo roles; one is the new one (2008?) with Mickey Rourke as a faded star pro-wrestler.

yep, 6 films with the same title to choose from. the only one I saw was the 1986 one with Ralph Macchio and Jami Gertz, I thought it was pretty good at the time because it featured some great guitar work from Steve Vai (among others)

We have a winner! I also liked the Macchio one. It has a great ambience suitable to its story.

Here's a dash of the obscure: the ten-minute silent THE GREAT TRAIN ROBBERY from 1903, and the Michael Crichton action film starring Sean Connery from 1979 have nothing to do with each other aside from the title.
