Salmon Fishing in the Yemen Reviews

A fun romantic comedy with some international flair. The characters were believable and the plot kept you interested with the solid dialogue and humor. My favorite was he Sheikh, it was nice to have a "visionary man" and to have his attributes laid out before you in a well defined manner. I wish I was more visionary to be able to follow my dreams, envision things and back it up with wisdom. I enjoyed this movie.

Thoroughly enjoyable. Can't wait to read the book. Great cast and concept. Makes me wish it were true.

A sweet movie that holds a good story and it's cast delievers strong performances.

Excellent, well-acted, unique, and delightful. This unusual and apparently initially impossible plot line to introduce migrating salmon to the middle east is enriched by a very nice love story. It is more drama and romance than comedy, although several cute devices, mostly using texting onscreen attempt (with minor success) to add comedic elements. A fine, but not great film, it will please those looking for something new and out of the mainstream formula films churned out every day in the industry.

Perhaps in my old age, I've become a sentimental romantic - but I really enjoyed this movie. Not really a romantic comedy, but I had more LOL moments then the last few Ben Stiller crapfests put together. Ewan MacGregor does make every movie better.

Nicely shot, nicely acted, and nicely written. It's just a very pleasant movie that had potential but after the first 30 min or so, it ends up jamming several underdeveloped stories and thus ends up being just decent.

better than your average romance film, but entirely simple.

very good acting and Amr Waked was the best ...

This is definitely diferent, but it has a wonderful cast that really helps carry it off.

A very enjoyable movie, but one that really isn't a comedy, except for Kristen Scott Thomas' role--she was fantastically witty and funny. But the rest of the film had a lot of emotion and drama, and explored the different degrees and kinds of romantic love. A very moving film.

An excellent light comedy with a quirky concept and fine acting.

A beautiful movie with some outstanding performances by the entire cast. A sheikh wants to fish in the middle of the desert and he wants the help of an expert to do so. Ewan McGregor is superb as the expert and Emily Blunt plays the role of the consultant. Must-see.

Enjoyable film. A bit of a twee love story but nonetheless enjoyable and mildly amusing.

This particular film disapproved by the honorable critics had been lying there disregarded for a good 3 months now. But my adoration for the beautiful Emily Blunt, compelled me to give this film a try.
The rom-com directed by Lasse Hallstorm and penned by Simon Beaufoy from a novel for the screen is a feel good movie one should enjoy without nitpicking its plausibility and occasional cloying melodrama. The super-talented Ewan McGregor and Emily Blunt are utterly appealing in the film, in fact, their endearing characters are the one's who save the film from being a complete disaster. A nice cameo by Kristin Scott Thomas and Amr Waked, as well. The cinematography is also that keep you hooked despite its aforementioned flaws. I won't bother you with the plot, go watch it for yourself it is refreshing and uplifting but not at all funny.

Meh, I wasn't particularly bothered about this film and didn't really care if I saw it but my family stuck it on and I watched some salmon fishing, in Yemen. It's pretty much a romance story/comedy-ish/life lesson film. It wasn't too bad; there were a few funny bits, there were a few sad bits. It was better than I expected and would probably watch it again if it was on TV or something. I don't think everyone will get some of the British references like I did (cause I'm from UK) but without that you can still like it. This is a very short review because I don't really have many thoughts on it; it was an okay film and you will enjoy it if you like that sort of thing.

Really nice movie! Enjoyable. Sweet. Funny. Good acting from a notable British cast. Although I am not so sure about the plausibility of their venture, I really enjoyed their interactions. Kristin Scott Thomas's role was hilarious! I also appreciated the courtesy that each player showed for the others' culture. It was sweet, sensitive, and promoted the "against all odds" idea. Nicely done!

Great cast that was unfortunately stuck with poor writing. Worth a watch just for the cast alone ... should have been better.
