Saludos Amigos (1943)
Critics Consensus: One of Disney's lesser-known animated films, Saludos Amigos may be slight stuff, but it's still a spirited, energetic travelogue.

This Walt Disney feature opens with live-action footage of Disney and his staff heading off to South America to glean material for a new cartoon project. The film then segues into the misadventures of American tourist Donald Duck at Lake Titicaca, among other sequences.

Critic Reviews for Saludos Amigos
A good-neighborly, Technicolor whimsey that has made Walt Disney one of South America's favorite North Americans.
Not a well-remembered bit of Disneyana, and I am not prepared to argue against the justice of that fact.
The two films are as artistically astonishing as they are culturally clueless.
A colorful combination of life action, animation and Latin music. A pioneering effort by Disney.
Audience Reviews for Saludos Amigos
first of the Compilation era
It's animation is decent, though nothing note worthy and the shorts are fun occasionally but again nothing note worthy.
This era is mostly forgettable though to most shorts being hardly much too be amazed at.

Disney Movie #11: Saludos Amigos
A great collection of shorts that is charming, funny and lively. Saludos Amigos is without a doubt, one of Disney's more creative and original films. Although some shorts are better than others, all of them are worth watching if you can grab a copy of this film. Though it's short, it packs in quite a few stories, allowing every story to stay fresh, even after you've watched it. Saludos Amigos is not one of Disney's popular films but it's definitely a showcase of classic Disney characters.
