This third episode in the informative series "Savage Skies" explores the tragic results of one of the most violent, tropical storms ever to strike in the United States -- Hurricane Andrew. Through interviews with survivors and video recordings, "Monsters of the Deep" provides graphic illustrations of the devastating power of the hurricane, which turned out to be one of the costliest natural disasters of any kind in the country's history. The documentary also introduces us to hurricane chaser Richard Horodner and to Bob Simpson, who made the first-ever research trip into the eye of a hurricane. Also included is an exploration of El Niņo, the mysterious Pacific Ocean current that has such a major impact on weather throughout the world. WNBC-TV meteorologist Al Roker narrates this insightful program. [More]
