After spending time writing a lengthy comment and having it been denied in error as 'typed wrong' I think this time I will be brief. I think you should watch this film again with more patience, and be more open to the dark and sometimes 'savage' comedy. Look less to a statement about dementia. This is an intelligent portrayal of the complexities in human relationships / conflicts and how these engagements can approach optimistic ends. The dog metaphor, albeit light, as an example enriches the dramatic tapestry rather than curses
