Critic Review - Time Out

Why did Spielberg make it? He wants us to imagine we can feel the terror of being there, but does that make us any wiser about this or any other conflict? Probably not.

Wow, last I checked, this is a MOVIE. It's not a documentary, it's not a history book, it's not a live presentation given from a World War II veteran. It's a MOVIE...and a BRILLIANT one at that.

Looks like this fool didn't even understand the difference between textbook and experience-based learning.
Spielberg's goal is NOT want to make us wiser about this or any other conflict...he DOES want us to feel the terror of being there. This movie takes a look at historical representations of conflict, scoffs, and shows us the horror of war. The circumstances and facts about the conflict are meaningless.
What this film does (and is supposed to do) is teach people the horror of war, and that it does.
