It's forty minutes of steely violence and two hours of cliche-ridden flab.

This reviewer is a moron. A movie for true Americans!
Mar 29 - 07:17 AM
that's not a compliment in any way. the comments here are so unbearably stupid!
May 31 - 07:11 PM
Jul 15 - 04:26 AM
dont worry, im pretty sure this poser didnt even watch the movie!
May 16 - 08:58 PM
Just an another edition to Spielberg's "I hate Germans" series. Entertaining nonetheless, and yes, there is some poorly written dialogue or FLAB.
Jul 2 - 03:11 PM
Jul 2 - 03:21 PM
so you know, you can get your point across posting ONE comment. Three is overdoing it, I'd say.
Jan 24 - 12:37 AM
also, speilberg is a WW2 buff. tom hanks is as well, that's why they made Band of Brothers together. he doesn't hate Germans, he's recounting what happened when they went to war with the US. is history, not hatred.
Jan 24 - 12:39 AM
its ironic people claim it to be a film for true americans, when americans sat the first half of the war and then the film concentrates on their incredible heroism the whole way through

Yeah, funny how the Western front moved nothing but backwards, all the way to the English channel, until the Americans joined.
Open a history book. The Germans owned the Western front until the USA got involved. And where were the other countries in the Pacific theater?
Aug 26 - 12:55 AM
He hates Nazis. Not Germans.
Mar 13 - 10:09 PM
This film is brilliant, where do you think the cliches come from idiot?
Mar 20 - 12:36 PM
I agree. Want to watch a good war movie. Full Metal Jacket.
Mar 27 - 01:13 PM
full metal jacket was more a movie about boot camp then war
May 15 - 08:43 AM
The Boot camp segment of FMJ was pretty good, but the rest was pretty crap and seemed to have no proper conclusion. The action scenes were way too short, if there even were any. It wasn't even realistic. Apocalypse Now is a better Vietnam war movie than Full Metal Jacket.
Sep 6 - 09:22 PM
You're flab too
Jul 4 - 04:13 PM
Then you missed the second half of FMJ, I'm guessing.
Jun 6 - 03:00 PM
The second half of FMJ barely had any warfare in it. They spend too much time talking in the barracks and chasing Ms. "I'll Love you Long Time."
Apr 10 - 01:12 AM
its because of idiot critics like you that don't know Howard the Duck from The Shawshank Redemption that films like this only have a 91% when they deserve a 98%
Jul 25 - 01:44 AM
Why would you call it cliche, it was based on a true story you douche
Jul 17 - 06:25 AM
Aug 9 - 08:20 AM
It's a war film its gonna be gory that's what happens in war! If your gonna make a war movie it should have bullets wizzin by and things blown up! People like you are cry baby idiots!
Aug 9 - 08:24 AM
This reviewer is what I call a contrarian. He is the guy that will take the opposite opinion of any argument because it earns him the attention he didn't receive from his parents when he was a child. He is the guy that will defend Bin Laden, vote against the logical choice, and wear the visiting teams gear at a home game. Saving Private Ryan is an academy award winning film that may be the best war film ever made.. yet mr contrarian just gotta crap all over it.
Apr 10 - 01:21 AM
Wait, what? You did know what the move is about right? "steely violence" is unfortunately what war can be like, you know, like what happened in World War II and the beach landing of Normandy.
Jun 29 - 12:58 PM
you gave sucker punch a perfect score. I think what you said here belongs on your sucker punch review.
Jul 31 - 05:05 PM
you cant say that this movie is flab this movie shows the bond of soldiers and brotherhood threw the toughest of times and in the darkest of hours even when faced with tough choices such as risking these men for one. you cant say that this movie is anything less then historically accurate and a great film AND EXPECT GORE ITS FUCKING WW2 AND THE OPENING SEEN IS OMAHA BEACH people got fucking cut up their okay so if you didnt expect that it just makes you look stupider then you already are.
