Wahlberg back for SAW 3
by Gareth J. Von Kallenbach | April 07, 2006
Discuss Article
Yesterday it was reported that Tobin Bell and Shawnee Smith would be back for Saw 3, but today comes a real shocker: Donnie Wahlberg will be back to reprise his part in the new film.

(Potential spoilers lie below, so tread lightly if you still haven't seen Saw 2.)

This last bit of news is a minor shock, as anyone who watched last year's Saw sequel knows that the good detective played by Wahlberg was left chained, screaming, and alone in the infamous filthy bathroom. It was looking like his ticket was punched.

While it is not known if Wahlberg's character appears in flashback format or as a lead, the inside word is that Wahlberg may indeed have escaped his fate with Jigsaw and is facing off against him in a new and even more diabolical plot.

Joining the three cast members for a third Saw-go-round will be Saw 2 director Darren Lynn Bousman. Keep an eye out for Saw 3 this October.

that was Donnie Wahlberg? Anyways, this series can't get worse than it already is.

Don't see the hype with "Saw"
I thought "Saw" (the first one) was kind of a lame knock-off of "Se7en", which is MUCH the superior. I mean, honestly: the second half was cheesy as can be. And James Wan's attempt at making it hip by making everything super flashy/fast was gag-worthy. I enjoyed the first half, though. Think they could've gotten a MUCH better writer though...like Andrew Kevin Walker (or whatever his name is)!

I haven't seen "Saw II", but hoping for an improvement in most everything. Just wish the write would stop making the characters make incredibly stupid decisions.

I kinda wish they would stop with the lame unhappy endings. I mean, the endings could be done SO much better. If you want to see a movie with a VERY well-done unhappy ending, once again see "Se7en". And if they're going to bring someone back (besides the wonderful Donnie Whalberg), make it Cary Elwes!!

I'm SO extremely sorry, guys. This was just a nice way to relieve all my stress.

Such an age-worned B movie concept
Have you watched those films on cable, where a bunch of people got stuck in a maze and each character got a little backgroud story that somehow make sense of their situation...something like the Cube series( way cooler deaths, and the 3d maze thingy). ANd of course, there's plenty of traps around, and most of them ends up experiencing some pretty gruesome and creative deaths. Man, i can;t believe the Australians sold America on this generic movie concept.

TV Series
Either Saw or Cube (particularly Cube) would make for a better TV series than movie. Both series are enjoyable movies, but they'd format well into "Lost" / "Fugitive" type TV shows.

the Saw series is a fun horror series, and as long as they keep getting the same writers and directors, then i will see them all. i do hope they stop with the 3rd one, or wait a few years to make a 4th one.

but i still love the series. some people are too up thier own butt to enjoy them

Love the Saw series. It's a different take on serial killers. Definitely looking forward to 3.

I think Saw 1 was an awsome movie, and i liked Saw 2 even more, so I know Saw 3 wont be bad at all, but I really hope that Amanda's high-pitched girly voice is'nt on the tape recorder now, it'll just make it less intense. Also im hoping to see more creative traps like the furnace one in Saw 2, and a little bit more backround stories for the characters, other than that, awsome movies.
