Similar to his legendary role in SWEET SMELL OF SUCCESS, Burt Lancaster plays a sleazy tabloid publisher in SCANDAL SHEET (aka THE DEVIL'S BED). Interested only in selling papers, Lancaster sees an easy target in a recovering alcoholic actor (Robert Urich) trying to make a comeback. Reporter Helen Grant (Pamela Reed) is in serious economic trouble, and Lancaster hires her to dig up dirt on the actor due to her close friendship with his wife (Lauren Hutton). Helen must now choose between her friendship and journalistic integrity on one hand and her desperation and Lancaster's persuasive ways on the other. SCANDAL SHEET is a critical look at the seedy and base world of sensationalist journalism. [More]
