RT on DVD: Watch Terminator, Scorpion King 2 Exclusive Clips!
Plus Street Kings, Gossip Girl, and a jam-packed line-up of new releases!

It's a monster week for DVD lovers, as we'll see tons of new movies, television shows, and direct-to-video flicks hit shelves. Read on for the week's highs (Street Kings, Gossip Girl) and lows (poker drama Deal, a new Crispin Glover creep-out) and check out great exclusive videos from Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles and The Scorpion King 2!

One of last season's hottest new series brought sci-fi fans back to a beloved franchise with a vengeance: Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. With a new Sarah (300's Lena Headey) and a teenaged John Connor (Heroes' Thomas Dekker), the show paid homage to the best elements of the Terminator films while introducing new twists -- and a new, benevolent Terminator (Firefly's Summer Glau).

In our exclusive clip below, watch as Sarah meets unassuming cell phone salesman Andy, who reveals his pet project: a powerful chess-playing computer called The Turk. Could the machine contain the powerful beginnings of SkyNet? Watch the clip here.

Another new release this week revives a familiar franchise, albeit a decidedly more...mummified one. Debuting on DVD is the prequel The Scorpion King 2: Rise of a Warrior, which tells the origin story of the young hero (One Tree Hill's Michael Copon) who will grow up to become the much brawnier, much less clothed The Rock --- err, Mathayus. Watch UFC champion Randy Couture tempt the young hero into joining his army, whilst delivering lines like "There's no place for timidity now that the scorpion rides on your shoulder." Watch it here!

RT on DVD continues to be my favorite feature here each week. I get informed about what's coming out, hear about movies I may have missed, and get the witty commentary of the lovely Jen Yamato. Thanks for this feature.

I actually kind of liked Street Kings, sure it was preditable and your run of the mill cop movie but it did entertain me, its a good rental. The Sarah Connor Chronicles are ok, I watched it during the writers striker when nothing else was on. I think its funny that they have the kid playing John Connor who is like 20 something starts out as 15 year old on the show, why couldnt they have said 17 or 18. Laura Lenney is ok on the show, SUMMER GALAU IS HOT AS HELL!!!! I will probably get DEXTER season 2 this week, great show. I think maybe I will rent Miss Pettigrew. Also still no DVD news?!?!?!?!?!?!??!? Well a cool DVD news peice I found on DVDACTIVE is that there releasing a giant box set of CASABLANCA on Blu Ray December 2nd, a must have for Christmas this year!

Aw gee thanks, Mr. Blur! I'm so glad you read and enjoy this column.

Jokerboy, it was just such a huge week for releases alone! I'm sorry again. Point duly noted.

Jen is pretty fly, along with RT on DVD! Thanks for the heads up about GG and I'm actually happy about the Terminator release too because I missed the boat when it came to putting it on the good ole DVR.

I don't know why I'm asking, but is the Best of Both Worlds DVD out on Blu-Ray too? Seems like any 3D movie would be much improved in a next-gen format for some reason (but I don't even have a Blu-Ray player, so it makes no difference). !Viva RT on DVD!

XOXO,
Gossip Girl

Oh, I'll take what I can get, Bruce. Welcome back, DC! How about having a Gossip Girl DVD party? I'm watching the Terminator: TSCC DVD right now as we speak.

Not to be overly critical on Jen Appreciation day and that marriage proposal still stands J-Yam, but House Season 4 actually came out this week as you correctly state in your prose, but there's a picture of House Season 3 actually in the article and the picture is labeled House Season 3. Please fix it before Hugh Laurie see's it and beats us again with his cane. Australian and handi-capped, soooooo violent.

Haha, sounds good, Bruce. August 18th = Jen Appreciation Day...(not that she shouldn't be on all the others, of course).
