Edgar Wright and Michael Cera In for Scott Pilgrim's Little Life
Cera's plan for Hollywood hipster domination nearing completion.

In further moments of awesome casting, Michael Cera has been cast as the titular hero in Scott Pilgrim's Little Life, Edgar Wright's adaptation of the graphic novel series of nearly the same name.

Little Life will detail some of Scott Pilgrim's most tumultuous weeks: playing inept indie rock, avoiding finding work, and meeting the girl of his dreams and learning he'll have to destroy her ex-boyfriends in mortal fisticuffs if he wants to hook up with her. This may all sound like a variation on a typical Cera role, but check out The Vulture for convincing reasoning why playing Scott Pilgrim is actually a significant step forward for his hipster doofus act.

(And as a personal aside, I'll now declare my adoration for the Scott Pilgrim. Fans of superhero comics who don't want to plumb the depths of manga, and manganites yet to jump into Marvel and DC, will find a common meeting ground with this consistently rad series.)

Paramount currently has plans for a fall start date on the movie, with no release date announced. Cera's next movie, Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist, is out November 3rd. His other upcoming projects include Year One, a caveman comedy produced by Judd Apatow and directed by Harold Ramis, and Youth in Revolt, directed by Miguel Arteta and based on the cult book by C.D. Payne.

Edgar Wright is also working on another comic adaptation: Ant-Man, whose script has yet to be finished. We'll see if he'll be able to fit that in before starting on Scott Pilgrim.

He's getting too old for the Youth in Revolt project. They better hurry up!

well said Bruce Campbell
Shia LeBouf can only play himself and we've seen it enough times by now.

Shia is a decent actor. I don't especially mind him in any role.

Well, it'll be good seeing Michael Cera not being typecast as usual. Nothing against him, of course, but here's the chance to prove to the doubters that he's not just a one-trick pony.

Haha, I didn't mean to get the subject changed to Shia. I totally agree about him. I don't even like the guy much. I'm just saying the dude looks like Tintin so much that it's creepy.
