3. The Haunting of Molly Hartley -- 3%

Gunning for next year's Moldy Tomato award, The Haunting of Molly Hartley came in at a robust three percent on the Tomatometer after being not screened for critics (and rightly so, apparently). The tale of a teenager (Haley Bennett) whose soul belongs to the Devil (and to Gossip Girl's Chace Crawford, who plays Bennett's devilishly handsome love interest) scored so low with critics and audiences alike, we can't in good conscience recommend it. The DVD boasts cast and director interviews, though not even a box set's worth of bonus features could have made this release watchable.

Man good week for dvds... I am going to rent Sex Drive and What Just Happened, I think I have those coming tomorrow. I love Akira and I still don't have it so I'll pick that up somewhere down the line on Blu Ray and the same goes for French Connection- I still don't understand why I don't have those. Maybe I'll pick up Vanishing Point if I hear it got a good transfer. I am still contemplating on whether to pick up Australia next week on Blu Ray. Also I think maybe I'll finally give into buying The Matrix box set on Blu Ray, not sure yet though.

I will definitely rent What Just Happened, cause I missed it in theaters. And I might rent Sex Drive. But that is all for me this week.

I'm just getting into anime after seeing "My Neighbor Totoro", so I plan on seeing "Akira", along with a lot of other anime films. From what I hear, it's essential anime.

I'd rent "What Just Happened", I'm not expectin' much.

"The French Connection" is still one of my faves, but I already own it. Nice week for the DVD/Blu Ray market.

I've already seen the newest Futurama, and it was just so-so. Akira, however, I could definitely go for...

I probably will get the new Futurama DVD since I have all the others. Though none have been all that great and certainly not on the level of Season 4.

I really should see Akira. I love anime and have always heard good things about it.

I actually recommend sex drive (skip the unrated version) in order to see one of the greatest portrayals of a jerk older brother in the history of film played by James Marsden

The Futurama movies were each pretty much as good as the show. The best was 'Bender's Big Score'.

In re: Vanishing Point. I just happened to watch this movie about a week before Grindhouse came out. It's no masterpiece, but it is better than Death Proof... of course, a 6 hour video of a colonoscopy could potentially be better than Death Proof... There would definitely be less inane yakking...

Sorry to disagree with a few of you, but I thought the Futurama feature "Bender's Big Score" was just as good as the series and rivaled "The Simpsons Movie" as an effective transition to feature film. The series is one of the most overrated ever, and is far superior to Family Guy, that's for sure. Not sure what everyone wanted from it, i thought it was great and by itself was a really neat story. But to disagree with vitajex on one thing - "Death Proof" was cool, especially watching Kurt Russell go from pyscho-killer to whiny baby.

wow, no love for Wyle and the Librarian? i actually like the series...its like a ghetto National Treasure.

and blockbuster/netflix...ANYBODY who rents Pirates 2 out to customers needs to be shot. the "toned down" version should never have been produced in any format what...so...ever. its like watching Nightmare on Elm Street on the Disney Channel, half the movie can't be shown so whats the point

It's like watching the Olympics but they cut out the stunts. Seriously, the stuff they do in that movie...it's exhausting to just watch.

Then again, nothing beats Evan Stone spouting off egomaniacal one-liners about his "twin hellfire cannons", so maybe there is some general entertainment value. But if that's the case, Pirates 1 was better.

Watchmen fans should see Akira. Visually and thematically they are similar. Whats going to happen to Planet express crew now? They always were my bright spot in the galaxy. If it truly is the last, it will be another reason not to get up in the morning... kudos to that entire animation team though. A great series with heart and brains. And robits...
