Elixor writes: on Mar 04 2008 06:17 AM Hopefully Tim Allen can direct comedy better than he can perform it. The only thing he did that I thought was gold was Galaxy Quest. Just a brilliant movie. (Reply to this) |

SuperJerkmo writes: on Mar 04 2008 06:22 AM Agreed on GQ. I was always a fan of Home Improvement, never cared for any of the other films he's done outside of "Quest" but this sounds like it could possibly not entirely suck. (Reply to this) |

Akuza writes: on Mar 04 2008 07:14 AM I really liked Big Trouble...and GQ was fantastic. Not a fan of Home Improvement at all though. (Reply to this) |

dahluzz writes: on Mar 04 2008 08:08 AM when i looked at mamet's recent films i immediately assumed allen was involved in his latest project "Joan of Bark: The Dog that Saved France" but it turns out he's in "Redbelt," which seems like an adult version of the karate kid with no signs of mr. miyagi. shucks. JettaJameson writes: on Mar 04 2008 08:46 AM In reply to this comment (#1615608) I agree. I find him to be a very charismatic, enjoyable person to watch. Christmas With The Kranks and The Santa Clause are two of my favorite movies. People are unneccesarily cruel to him. And Home Improvement is one of the best shows to ever be on TV. (Reply to this) |

danielfrohlich writes: on Mar 04 2008 09:07 AM Tim gets too much ****. The first santa clause movie was ok considering who they targeted the movie towards. It could be ok, I don't really know enough about any of those writers, though. (Reply to this) |

dahluzz writes: on Mar 04 2008 09:36 AM In reply to this comment (#1615766) dude the santa clause and christmas with the kranks are two of your favorite movies? you've got some real soul-searching to do. even if that's true, don't admit it to people. and american eagle's lame. (Reply to this) |

unbreakable_samurai writes: on Mar 04 2008 10:04 AM Well he got himself a pretty good cast, so hopefully he does good by them. (Reply to this) |

Matanuki writes: on Mar 04 2008 12:38 PM In reply to this comment (#1615726) Redbelt looks interesting, D. Not sure where the Karate Kid comparison comes from. I'll admit I am biased, the humble martial artist living by a samurai code aspect, and the fact that Chiwetel Ejiofor stars. Now, Mamet's current track record does make one worry though. Rank this as one of those films that I want to be good. (Reply to this) |

WeaponAndy writes: on Mar 04 2008 01:27 PM I like Tim Allen. I'm interested to see what he can do. Plus his film has Ray Liotta and Kelsey Grammar, that should be a fun team to watch. (Reply to this) |

RPMcMurphy51 writes: on Mar 04 2008 02:39 PM Tim Allen has had an interesting career. Home Improvement was a very successful sitcom, and Tim went on to have a successful kids film career despite having a shady personal life. I think 3 Santa Clause films earns him the right to try his hand with something "adult-themed". I'd watch this movie. (Reply to this) |

JettaJameson writes: on Mar 04 2008 03:06 PM In reply to this comment (#1615916) Newsflash! Not everyone has the same taste in movies. I don't need the Academy or anyone else for that matter to tell me what a good movie is. Besides, I said they were two OF my favorite movies. Not that they ARE my two favorite movies. The only people who need to soul search are people who insult others tastes in movies on a website message board. Really, how juvenile can you get? (Reply to this) |

Shadowflare writes: on Mar 04 2008 03:34 PM I'm not a Tim Allen fan at all. There's a video store in Hell that stocks only Ishtar and Tim Allen movies, I just know it. But that's his acting, and there are several other things wrong the movies he's made than just his presence. He's got a good cast for this, so while he has something to prove in my eyes, I'll give it a chance. (Reply to this) |

RPMcMurphy51 writes: on Mar 04 2008 04:36 PM If it really is good, it will get a lot of attention. Sure were be a similar start to Ron Howard's career. (Reply to this) |

~*Admiral Snowstorm*~ writes: on Mar 04 2008 05:08 PM Galaxy Quest was excellent. And largely because of Tim Allen, surprisingly. I just love it when people like him and Adam Sandler get movies like Galaxy Quest and Punch-Drunk Love to prove to us that they can act, if only for a moment. This could be good or bad, too early to tell. I'm leaning toward bad, though. (Reply to this) |

Willy105 writes: on Mar 04 2008 05:54 PM If he can do another Galaxy Quest, then put him in the Director's Chair IMMEDIATELY. But if it's another lame comedy, then....no. (Reply to this) |

alarson37 writes: on Mar 04 2008 09:42 PM Intrigued would be what I can say about this. Sure, he's done his share of bad movies, but so have the majority of actors out there (I dare anyone to name an actor that has been in only good projects), and he's done enough good projects to be given a chance behind the camera. (Reply to this) |

rgallitan writes: on Mar 05 2008 01:45 AM Tim Allen has definitely been abused by his career. He keeps taking roles that either don't understand why he's funny or don't have anything to back him up with. These projects are definitely intriquing. Now, the funny part is that just having Ray Liotta and Kelsey Grammer in the same film would be newsworthy on any other day... :) (Reply to this) |

(btw, I know this is basically a double-post, but I don't care. I'll never forgive RT for ditching the edit post function.) (Reply to this) |

dethburger writes: on Mar 07 2008 12:34 PM With all the needless sequels being cranked out, why hasn't GQII been made. The whole premise screams for a sequel and the film did a good job of setting one up. My favorite Tim Allen movie by far. Wild Hogs made me throw up in my mouth while I was watching it at least twice. (Reply to this) |
