Young engineer Bob Sanderson (Lew Ayres) is in love with wealthy socialite Edith Stuart (Joan Perry), and the feeling is mutual. But Bob refuses to marry Edith until he can support her in the manner to which she is accustomed. He takes a job as a messenger boy with her father's telegraph service, only to get mixed up in a murder case.
