Critic Reviews for Sharks 3D
Some of the photography is quite impressive. And the movie certainly doesn't have the 'fearsome denizen of the deep' tone usually found in movies about sharks.
In this dazzling follow-up to Ocean Wonderland 3D, director Jean-Jacques Mantello gets you so close to these creatures you'll feel like fending them off with your hands.
Swim in the images, soak up the facts, and if questions about storytelling, consistency, or tone keep nagging, just tell them to float away.
It's a graceful, menacing view into of this animal and its breathtaking underworld of blue.
A sweet-natured documentary that's impressive in its devotion to the beauty and grandeur of its subject.
It's a spark of passion in an otherwise distracted feature -- an entertaining, enlightening picture, but not quite the sharkapalooza promised.
Unlike some large-format films, Sharks 3-D was obviously made by someone (Jean-Jacques Mantello) who cares about the way movies work.
A good, respectable piece of underwater filmmaking, but not an especially innovative or entrancing one.
The amazing visuals are what make this movie worth a trip to the nearest IMAX; this is some of the finest use of 3D technology we've seen.
It becomes quickly obvious that Mantello relied too heavily on the potential wow factor of sharks swimming off the screen to entertain the audience.
...places as much importance on information as it does on visual spectacle.
