If you actually cared to pay attention for the first half, then you would care about the characters during the second half. You would watch intently to find out what will happen.

BTW, can you name a Horror Movie that ISN'T just a "Standard Horror Movie Showdown"? They all did superb and shouldn't be given a bad review by the likes of you
