While out hyping their new movie "Shooter," producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura and actor Mark Wahlberg were (of course) asked about their upcoming projects, and it seems they'll have another one in common: the live-action version of "G.I. Joe."

No, he won't be playing the title character, but it looks like Wahlberg is being primed for the role of "Duke." If I knew anything about "G.I. Joe," I could dole out a little more information, but I'm assured that Duke is a good guy and not a bad guy.

Our source also brings us a little bit of plot synopsis on the "Joe" flick (which doesn't seem to have a director at this point?), which will take place before "Cobra Command" became this evil faction that wanted to destroy the world. Right? Anyway, any flick called "G.I. Joe" will probably be rated PG-13, and that kinda stinks.

If there is anything I'm against more (aside from global hegemony and dolphin killings in Asia- Hrm, possible plot synopsis for this film?) is the fact we have people making films based off of nothing more than to make money off of merchandise. What's next, a NERF film?

Duke was one of the main good guys. I guess you could say he was as close to a "lead" as GI Joe got in the past.

Could be kind of fun, if it's one of those Ocean 11 ensemble movies. That'd be fun. There is a shortage of awesome 80's type movies out there. Why did Stallone and Schwarzenegger have to get old?

From what I remember of the cartoon Duke was the main charcter, there wasn't an actual "G.I. Joe" character, that was the code name of the team. But seriously, all I care about if they do this is a massive Snake Eyes/StormShadow(I think that is the white ninja's name) fight.

Yeah, there was no "GI Joe" person. That was the name of the team, and Duke was basically the leader. I know that it has already been said, but I felt compelled to say it again. What hasn't been said is WTF!?!? How can you make a GI Joe movie without COBRA?
