Take Your First Look "Over the Hedge"
by Scott Weinberg | October 06, 2005

Fans of DreamWorks Animation flicks like "Shrek," "Shrek 2," and "Madagascar" will undoubtedly be in line next May for the animated family comedy "Over the Hedge," and ComingSoon.net has a 7-month early teaser trailer for the flick!

Boasting a truly impressive cast of voice actors (Bruce Willis, Garry Shandling, Steve Carell, William Shatner, Wanda Sykes, Eugene Levy, Nick Nolte, Thomas Haden Church, Catherine O'Hara, Allison Janney, and Avril Lavigne), "Over the Hedge" is described thusly:

"Bruce Willis will voice the mischievous con-artist raccoon R.J., and Garry Shandling will be the voice of the sensitive turtle named Verne. When R.J., Verne and their woodland friends find a suburban housing development encroaching on their forest home, Verne's first instinct is to retreat into his shell and leave, but the ever-opportunistic R.J. sees a treasure trove to be had from his unsuspecting new neighbors. Together, Verne and R.J. form an unlikely friendship as they learn to co-exist with -- and even exploit -- this strange new world called suburbia."

Sounds a bit like a suburban version of "Madagascar," but the teaser is pretty darn funny anyway.

This is based on the comic strip of the same name, yes? I haven't seen the strip in quite a while, but the characters sound familar.

i really like reading the comic strip every morning. and sammy is the most awesome character. but the movie doesn't seem to get the comic right. it's all too...happy? i dunno. it doesn't have the same type of humor.
