Holly Jolly writes: on May 22 2007 10:39 AM Why? BECAUSE! Robert is the ONLY dude that has successfully made a campy movie ultra cool and hilarious. It may be a step down from Planet Terror (his best film) but it should be awesome with him directing and co-writing. (Reply to this) |

bribios writes: on May 22 2007 10:46 AM Does this mean sin city 2 gets pushed back further? I also saw today Jolie wants to take a year off acting. Is that movie ever gonna get made at this point? (Reply to this) |

Holly Jolly writes: on May 22 2007 10:50 AM In reply to this comment (#866459) I heard he was going to do it without her. Robert can direct effectively and fast so I wouldn't be suprised if he can pump out Sin City 2 before. He's directed TWO movies in one year several times. (Reply to this) |

MadmanCody writes: on May 22 2007 11:59 AM In reply to this comment (#866458) planet terror is RR's best film? i'd have to say i disagree.....i think el mariachi would be above an homage to exploitation (Reply to this) |

Holly Jolly writes: on May 22 2007 12:19 PM In reply to this comment (#866463) El Mariachi is his third best in my opinion. It's good, it even stands up today but its extremely low budget does hold it from being a classic in my opinion. 1.) Planet Terror 2.) Sin City 3.) El Mariachi (Reply to this) |

tycox writes: on May 22 2007 12:36 PM I THINK THIS IS BULLSHIT!!! WHY DO THEY KEEP DELAYING SIN CITY 2 MORE AND MORE??? IT'S PISSING ME OFF!!! I SAW FRANK MILLER SHOULD JUST DIRECT IT HIMSELF!!! Then again I sure he doesn't have quite the right filming equipment unlike Robert Rodriguez. I saw they should just forget about Angelina Jolie and just concentrate on getting Sin City 2 made damn it! There is no reason why they shouldn't be making it! SO FORGET ALL THAT OTHER CRAP AND GET TO WORK ON SIN CITY 2!!! (Reply to this) |

MadmanCody writes: on May 22 2007 12:42 PM In reply to this comment (#866464) wow, thats pretty shocking, but i guess you probably don't watch that many movies, so i'll let it go. (Reply to this) |

thetruebastard writes: on May 22 2007 01:45 PM El Mariachi is Rodriguez's best film. There's really no argument any other way. The quality that he pumped out for only a few thousand dollars is amazing and easily trumps the glitzy Sin Ciy, which I enjoyed quite a bit, but still. (Reply to this) |

Holly Jolly writes: on May 22 2007 03:17 PM In reply to this comment (#866466) Okay that's fine. And I guess you just watch low budget movies and rare titles that stay out of the mainstream because they make you feel special. Ah, how cute. If you watch his commentary on El Mariachi he explains all the flaws. There are a LOT of flaws. It's still a good movie but with 10 or 20,000 dollars more it could have been done correctly. Sorry, but when a dead girl flinches it ruins a film. He knows his technique and he's quite wise, but his execusion is indeed about being sloppy. Planet Terror fits into that kind of filmmaking much better. (Reply to this) |

cardow writes: on May 22 2007 06:10 PM Could be worse news I guess, and at least we can probably trust Rodriguez to keep the sexual tones of the original intact. Still, I'm not quite sure he's the man for the job, and I'm hoping this doesn't mean we'll see Rose McGowan in space. And please, Robert, don't make this entire thing on your computer... killermonkey8822 writes: on May 22 2007 09:09 PM i would rather have sin city 2.......... but whatever.......... i have never seen the old one or anything but i will probably see this just because it's made by one of my favourite styish directors. (Reply to this) |

danrice56 writes: on May 23 2007 04:12 AM In reply to this comment (#866457) agreed. enough already with the fucking remakes. if hollywood is that bereft of new ideas, they could at least start adapting many worthwhile books which are out there. (Reply to this) |

dracus writes: on May 23 2007 06:07 AM Well, at least he's not doing The Jetsons, but it really is about time for him to get at Sin City 2 and leave the boob movies to boob directors such as Bay. (Reply to this) |

unbreakable_samurai writes: on May 23 2007 09:18 AM Well they just sold one more ticket, I didn't really care about this at all before, but if Rodriguez is doing it I'm there. But yeah I want the Sin City movies more of course. (Reply to this) |

thetruebastard writes: on May 23 2007 09:30 AM In reply to this comment (#866468) Shut up cunt. It doesn't matter if El Mariachi is inside or outside the mainstream. It's better because it's full of more inventive direction than anything else Rodriguez has done. The dead girl flinching didn't ruin the film. Dead bodies can flinch days after death. Stop being a retard. (Reply to this) |

Holly Jolly writes: on May 23 2007 09:49 AM In reply to this comment (#866477) I'm sorry you feel so offended truebastard, but I wasn't talking to you. If you look at the top of my comment it says "in replay to 702872", which would be me talking to MadmanCody. The guy thinks he can assume who I am and then stop the conversation which I find very rude so I was addressing him in the same fashion. He gave Planet Terror a 9 out of 10, the same score I gave it, and yet he wants to say I know nothing about movies and that El Mariachi is much better. Is it REALLY a 10? So if you want to talk I'm fine with that, sorry for the confusion and I hope my explination has cleared things up. Yes it was inventive but he does inventive stuff ALL the time! He's always making movies for about half of what they SHOULD cost. He did Desperado for like 9 million. Is that not impressive? He had to make Planet Terror for 25 million. Is that not impressive? Anyone else and I bet it would have cost 40 to 70 million to make. Yes, El Mariachi is a great achievement, perhaps the best in the sense that it shows film lovers how to make movies themselves. But even today he shows hollywood lovers, the directors themselves how to get a movie done. (Reply to this) |
