Critic Review - Seattle Times

That title is off the mark. Here's a better one: "Stupid."

You (Soren) call this movie stupid, but you know what I call stupid, your review! You critics are so critical on how a good horror movie should be made. I mean, how long has it been since we got a decent horror movie? This is Ethan Hawke's first horror movie, and I want it to be a success. I can't take you seriously, because you gave Ted a bad review. That movie was hilarious!

This is the kind of joke that bullies with small IQ's do. Or five year olds...

Made me laugh. It's the way most of us feel about "scary" movies these days.

I can recall plenty of good horror movies, but I will agree most are crap! The Exorcist, Dawn of the Dead, The Shining, and 28 Days Later are all great horror movies, just to name a few! I agree with Elaynie that most of what comes out nowadays is "stupid", and that isn't limited to just the horror genre. I will reserve judgement on this movie until I see it, but to be honest, I don't have a strong desire to watch it.

What a terrible review. I haven't even seen the movie and can already tell that you had your mind made up before you entered the theater.

Your main criticism is even a serious one. The characters make stupid decisions? Of course they do. Would you rather completely implausible events keep them from making the smart decisions? Would that make you feel better about this utterly moot point you're nitpicking? Granted, when characters do remarkably stupid things, it warrants criticism, but your criticisms are ones that would end the movie 20 minutes in. You're required to suspend your disbelief in order to enjoy a movie. Because you can't get over that people in horror movies are going to do what most people will consider stupid things, you will never like a single horror movie. So stop reviewing them.
