Critic Review - HollywoodChicago.com

I never look at Rotten Tomatoes until after I publish my review. My reviews agree with the Tomatometer 77% of the time. While "Sinister" is fresh here based on 100+ reviews, it's only barely so at 63%. That's wrong. This is the best horror film of 2012.

Agreed. It used classic horror style tactics but in a new way that was sometimes predictable but still very frightening and tension building. Oh and it actually had a plot to go along the side.

I'd hate to be that guy But Cabin In The Woods was the best horror film of 2012. And aside from Attack The Block probably the best one i've seen in years

I loved Cabin In The Woods, but I wouldn't consider it a true horror film. It was a meta horror film with other genres blended in. This is purely a horror film which is what he means, I think.

Yeah, I agree somewhat. If you want a FUN horror film, it's "Cabin in the Woods", but if you want to actually be scared, it's "Sinister" - as far as 2012 is concerned.

Sometimes, a good movie doesn't have to be EITHER a comedy OR a horror film. "Shaun of the Dead" is a comedy that is ALSO a scary zombie film.

This movie was stylized snuff. Nothing creative, nothing innovative and still reeks of the same monotonous, redundant plot that horror movies have shared these past few years. Now, saying this is the 'best horror movie of 2012' is a hilarious statement. Every horror film this year has been rubbish, including this one. Yawn

Adam, you know why many critics are panning "Sinister"? I don't think it's because "Sinister" is a bad horror movie, but simply because it's a horror movie.
