It IS in fact allowed to make money off of the film, as it is being distributed under the CC Attribution Share-Alike license. What is NOT allowed is to not attribute it to Nina Paley or to distribute any derivative work created from it under a different license. Nina Paley hopes to make money through the "Creator-Endorsed" concept, which is described in more detail on her website and on QuestionCopyright.org. In short, distributors can show this movie without paying anything to Nina Paley. Those who do give part of the profits to her, however, can use the "Creator-Endorsed" logo in their promotional materials. (Reply to this) |
