In the not-too-distant future, when pets can be cloned after they die and "virtual girlfriends" can be installed and programmed, Adam Gibson (Arnold Schwarzenegger) works as a helicopter tour pilot. On his birthday he comes home to discover an identical version of himself--an illegal human clone--celebrating with his family and friends. The next thing he knows, a squad of killers is after him in order to hide the evidence of their cloning activities, funded by Michael Drucker (Tony Goldwyn), a powerful businessman who hopes to make billions from human cloning in collaboration with his medical expert, Dr. Griffin Weir (Robert Duvall). Of course, nobody believes Adam when he says there's an impostor living his life, and soon he has to take matters into his own hands while being chased by bad guys who won't stay dead thanks to the magic of cloning and Syncordings, instant memory downloads. THE 6TH DAY is an intriguing sci-fi thriller, combining science fact and fiction with everything viewers could want from a Schwarzenegger movie: terrific special effects and an action-packed story, with two Arnolds for twice the fun. Reviews for The 6th Day
A romping enough experience. But to really blast off, it should have been both creepier and kookier.
A calculated but winning piece of back-to-basics entertainment... with two Arnolds for the price of one.
A remarkably solid film that is, minute for minute, more entertaining than any other movie currently on the market.
An appealingly low-key performance from Schwarzenegger anchors this above-average action picture.
...coherent action, exciting chases, clever twists and intriguing payoffs.
There are enough wild car chases, cool explosions and funny moments to keep your attention, and some of the stunts will make you flinch.
Beneath its sci-fi trappings, the film addresses mortality and is far more thought provoking than one might expect.
An exciting high-tech action film that's even a little clever, in its big, blowing-things-up kind of way.
Both good and bad news. Good: It's a solid action movie. Bad: It feels like it could have been made five or 10 years ago. It feels stale.
A savage critique of a corporation that sets out to market "the business of life."
Far smarter and more airtight than almost any other Ahhh-nuld project since James Cameron's Terminator series.
An unlikely and entirely welcome blend of humor, action, moral debate, and social satire.
